I can understand releasing books at different times at an international level, if they're in different languages, but why release the same book in three English speaking countries at three different times?

The US release date is pushed back as people buying books in the US need just a little longer on average to read the previous ones. Litteracy rates arent quite what they used to be. :)

Haha well that may be true, but it's also that SE is published by a different publisher in the US, and the US publishers published GotM much later than in Britain, so they are behind and will catch up with TCG I think.

Hey Raraku,

Didn't know there were many other Malaz fans in Japan.
Amazon.co.jp has the release date as Jan 2010.

Oh, WoT has good and bad about it, but I still like it and want to see the series finished.

Not sure if anyone here likes Janny Wurts but her Wars of Light and Shadow series (which is taking FOREVER to get written) is something I like too. Not sure on the next book. She's fallen into my Martin category lately. I get tired of him and his reasons for not publishing his next book. I just kinda gave up reading that series until the whole damn thing is done (15 years from now) and I will start again at Game of Thrones.

I know what you mean about Wurts. She's taking forever similar to J V Jones latest series

You ordering the paperback, Arbat? That date's 5th Nov, the hardback is still 27th August. And hopefully it'll be so huge with so many delicious pages to read, hardback will be necessary to stop it tearing itself apart under it's own weight when you try to read it...

amazon says 509 pages or something like that, is that accurate or just some wild guess?

Can't quite believe that some people still go by what they see on Amazon. . . :p

As far as I know, late August is still the release date Bantam is gunning for. SE's editor told me that the final copy-edit should be done by the end of June, at which point he'll Fedex me a copy of the page proofs so I can get you guys a review ASAP.

As for the size, we are looking at another 350,000-word sucker, which means that it will be a big one.

Can't wait to get my hands on it!

If late August is the go in England, does anyone know when Australia will get it? Hopefully not too long after, otherwise I'll have to avoid the boards for a while. I know I won't be able to resist...

Checked my order today and it says:

"Delivery estimate: 9 Nov 2009 - 13 Nov 2009 1 of: Dust of Dreams (Malazan Book of the Fallen)"

It's taking too long!

I see what Pat has written above, but I notice that http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/ has the Hardback listed at 912 pages? and due to be released on 27th August.

I've ordered stuff from them in the past and they were prompt, and best of all, THEY HAVE FREE DELIVERY WORLDWIDE!!!!! That is fantastic when you are living in New Zealand. The delivery charges through Amazon are huge.

No supplier can know just how many pages the book will be because the final copy-edit just reached Transworld this morning. SE's editor just got back to me to say that they are printing the page proofs today. So the August 27th pub date should be on target, unless something major fucks up. . .

Who cares about minor delays now? :p

What is important is that now Erikson is at work on the True Conclusion. I hope that he takes his time to make it the very best possible. Now it's not important if the book takes more time to polish.

It's the last book, it's way more important that it delivers than it is published on schedule. It's the very last wait, and it's worth it. No more worries that a big series is left unfinished (as in other famed cases).

Well, once the final copy-edit is done, all that's left is to get the books printed. So technically, there shouldn't be any delays. . .
