ok, the Soletaken Dhenrabi that was a D'ivers seemed pretty much huge, and i guess they are like giant massive centipede type things. and they can swim and walk on land. But they are huge. But then in one of the books, can't remember off hand which, one of the T'lan Imass bonecasters had a dhenrabi skin on, like all bonecasters do, to denote their soletaken form. so i was just confused and wondering if it was all the skin, or just part of it. dumb question, but i am like that

First off, Soletaken and D'ivers are different classes of shapeshifters. The major role they played was in "Deadhouse Gates," where the shapeshifters tried to achieve Ascendancy via the Path of Hands. Agents of shadow, including the high priest, colluded to deceive them. Instead, they were lead to Tremolor, the Seven Cities Azath house.

The first Dhenrabi encoutered, the one Fiddler shoots in the mouth with a cusser, is discovered to be a D'ivers later on in "Deadhouse Gates." As an aquatic creature, it is described as riding some sort of Warren instead of crawling through the dust.

Most of the T'lan Imass bonecasters are shapeshifters(order, Soletaken) per my understanding. I can't think of a D'ivers T'lan Imass.

Nothing wrong with some necrothreading.
And anyways we all know time runs differently in warrens. That dhenrabi d'ivers is clearly outside of the timeline.

I have been tempted to reply to very old threads, but the fear of John Goodman's scorn stayed my hand.

Clarification though, can dhenrabi walk on land? I don't remember reading that...

And as for necro-ing threads, you never have to worry. I've done it many times, and I'm still around ;)

I'm pretty sure anelean is right about the dhenrabi riding a sorcerous wave to/through the Path of Hands...it sounds vaguely familiar, but on top of that, natural dhenrabi certainly don't go on land or else coastal cities (not to mention locations a bit further inland) would be obliterated on the regular, I'd imagine.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

When it shows up in Tremolor it's via an open warren gate that floats in mid air with water pouring out around it. Full points for creativity on the d'ivers' part there.

so this bonecaster, likely a soletaken, would turn into such a dhenrabi? And in keepin with the theme a soletaken takes mass over versatile numbers meaning the bonecaster in question morphs into the biggest sea worm in cretion?
