Malazan Empire: Karsa Orlong - Malazan Empire

I decided there absolutely had to be a thread dedicated to this awesome powerhouse! Kidding, I do have a reason for posting;

Why is it that he is so invincible (for lack of a better word). The list of his prowess is vast:
He can throw off mundane sorcery without so much as a sweat and High Tellan didn't stop him for more that a minute.
He killed two of the nastiest Ascendant animals we've ever seen (Deragoth) as well as that powerful Soletaken in Raraku
He K.O.ed Icarium (!!!!!)

So this leaves us with an image that is increasingly... scary. He can obviously no longer be called a 'fallen' Thelomen Toblakai, unless the originals were so immeasurably powerful as to slaughter any opponent.
Any ideas?
