I've just read Zodiac, and now I'm hooked.

Just finished System of the World. Lovely 3000 world novel the Cycle was. I would have liked to see Root again, particularly fighting someone. Also would have liked to see someone win the Longitude prize.

snowcrash is a great book.gripping and fast paced to keep you hooked until the end.always have to remember that it was first envisioned as a graphic novel.the diamond age is also a damn fine read and very interesting.still waiting to get crypto but i'm sure it will be as good as the previous books.Zodiac is a good read as well although i haven't read it in a long time.
i especially liked the idea of the avatars and virtual reality in snowcrash and the way it was based on a real vr world which they used on the commodore 64 computer.damn i used to have one of those.

I believe that Morrow is putting it out. My dealings with Morrow go through Harper Collins. Don't have a picture of the book yet, but the big publishers seldom supply the images for limited editions. So far as I can tell, Amazon and I are the only places listing it right now.

Yeah, he likes doing that. Snow Crash and The Diamond Age leave some fairly loose ends too...

http://www.nealstephenson.com/

is the website with a good description of the new Baroque cycle.

"And those that endure in Middle-earth and come not to Mandos shall grow weary of the world as with a great burden, and shall wane, and become as shadows of regret before the younger race that cometh after."

Excited to say the least. Posted Image I got Quicksilver in the mail as a birthday gift from my sister yesterday!

Also, I remember being shocked at the absence of a Stephenson thread before I started this one. Glad to see there are this many fans!

You’ve never heard of the Silanda? … It’s the ship that made the Warren of Telas run in less than 12 parsecs.

I just picked up "Quicksilver" at my local bookstore today. It's not scheduled to come out until Tuesday, but lucky for me they put the book on shelves a few days early.

I haven't started reading it yet, but I must say I'm impressed by the design of the book itself -- the endpapers feature two detailed maps (the front endpapers show a map of Europe, the back endpapers feature a map of London).

There's a list of characters at the back of the book, as well as family trees throughout the book.

And the back dust jacket flap shows the covers of "The Confusion" and "The System of the World", which are also gorgeous. "The Confusion" is a bronze cover with a map of Paris on the cover. "The System of the World" is a lovely gold cover with a map of the world (appropriately enough) on the cover. All of these maps are very detailed, by the way.

The book is also extremely heavy, as I discovered to my dismay when I lugged it home. But I'm sure it will be well worth the effort. I highly recommend everyone check out these novels. I think The Baroque Cycle will be one of the all-time great sagas (even though it's really one massive novel).

First I'm going to finish my re-read of "Cryptonomicon" though.
