I've finished this book, and am about to start DHG, but some things are still a bit unclear:
1. What does Ascending mean? Does this mean that a mortal is on the path to being an Ascendant? Eg is Tattersail Ascending after GotM?
2. How much absolute physical power does an Ascendant/God have? Some of them seem to have a lot - eg Anomander Rake, Shadowthrone, Cotillion, etc. in that they command Warrens and magic. Others eg Oponn don't seem to have a lot - otherwise why would Paran have been able to threaten Oponn with physical violence? Wouldn't Oponn just have snuffed his life out?
3. What's the difference between an Ascendant and a God? The words seem to be used interchangeably.
