Has anyone else read them and what did you think?

I thought they were odd and definantly hard to read if you didn't already now a lot about the Malaz universe.

But anything about the necromancers and their poor manservant is entertaining. I really liked the "Healthy dead" were they bring death and destruction to the city - to save it and the citizens thank them :)

I'm curious to find out what (if anything) will be going on with B. and K.B. and Figaro and the cat, in the next book or so. Another reason I suspect the Mott Irregulars have more to do . . . no one else was qualified (or very much interested) in stopping the great undead-and-demonic vaudeville show that these 2 were obsessively carrying on in the shadow of the Pannionistas . . .

I can't help but wonder what has happened with Emancipor and his wife by the time of MoI. By then he should have already earned more than enough for his wife and children to be set.

Even more curious, his interest in his wife and the wellfare of the children, seemed small when he joined them. I think he might actually enjoy the raw terror and exitement of "the adventures" :)

Pres North: Who is Figaro? and the cat? Is it a reference to litterary characters that resemble Emancipor and his mangy cat?

i think emancipor is glad to be away from his wife by the sounds of it hes kinda just with her coz its the right thing to do while he does value her for sticking with him, perhaps he has low selfesteem, what i also find interesting is that bauchielen isnt portrayed as the murderer he is, hes kinda likeable while korbal is just weird and creepy, i like bauchielen though i liked it better when quick ben gave them some what of a hiding

I'm quite interessted to hear more about these two plus manservant. I ordered "The healthy dead" two week ago. But I struggle with Blood Follows. Don't get me wrong but 22,- EUR / 28,- USD for 125 pages is not a fair exchange.

I just finished reading the Healthy Dead. It was a waste of money. Don't get me wrong, I am a Malazan fan, but that was worthless use of trees. It had nothing to do with anything on the Malazan world, and as a stand-alone story, frankly, it blew.

I actually preferred 'The Healthy Dead' to 'Blood Follows.' THD was funnier and more weird and fantastic. BF seemed rushed; Bauchelain and Broach were hardly featured -- it seemed that most of the book was a lead up to their introduction, and soon after they're introduced, the story concludes...

If money's an issue, I wouldn't bother tracking them down. Definitely minor diversions, but should they both find their way Stateside, might be worth an impulse buy...
