Steven Erikson is definitely my favorite as i have found his series to be so much more complex, and encompasses so many different plotlines then any other fantasy series i have read. I am not familiar with alot of the authors listed in this poll so i may be a little biased, but my second is close between Tolkien and Martin, but Tolkien gets the edge as he is was the first to truly master epic fantasy IMHO.

Wow...so many authors, and not too many that I liked or even read. Of the ones listed that I have...

Tolkien...what else needs be said.
Pratchett...okay.
Donaldson...okay.

Wolfe...good. Feist...very good. To the rest...haven't read.

Authors not mentioned that I liked a great deal.

Michael Morcock, Glen Cook, David Drake, Robert Adams, Roger Zelazney, Lawarence Watt-Evens, Steven Brust, Eric Van Lustbader, CJ Cherryh, and Fritz Leiber just to name a few. Posted Image
