by use of strange, unnatural alchemies I will over the next few days be importing purgatory threads into the board. only posts made by users who have corresponding accounts in both forums, and in forums which exist in both forum versions will make it. you may notice empty threads showing up, or links in old posts that don't quite work, or unexplainable lights and wailing sounds as of human souls being ravaged by dread, unnameable beasts. at the end of it all there may be a bit of work for mods to do mopping up since-duplicated threads and dark ichors but I think it will be good to get some of those discussions back, especially in the book forums.

You have my full support.

Let me know if I can provide words of encouragement when you lose your will to continue on. I hear a lot of wailing sounds already so no problem there, they're usually of people falling to the floor two below ours - we haven't got round to putting a warning sign up

Anyway, I hope this works well. I look forward to the restoration of our proud topics.

This is going to be odd. Because we had the old threads. Then we made new ones on purgatory. Then we came here and the old threads were resurrected. Now we're going to have all of them. I assume they're going to be merged? weeee.

ok so it went about as well as could be expected i suppose. the frankenthreads are around the place, but
- seeing as they're older than all currently active threads they won't usually be on the first page.
- also being of a different format from a different board, IPB apparently is incapable of figuring out how many posts are in them. so they all show 0 replies. even after i told IPB to recount posts. whatever.
- and those dups are around but i don't have the brain power to deal with that right now. mods if you feel motivated, the first instance of every duplicated thread is bogus and has no posts. delete it. i'll script that up at some point anyway i guess.

Awesome stuff zwitterion!
