A romantic New years Day with my girlfriend. What could be better?

Oh yeah it can be better. She brought along the four Malazan books I ordered from Amazon as my old second-hand copies were in so miserable a condition I could not read them, or carry them about with me. So double happinessPosted Image

Usually, yeah. I don't like snow in general and I loathe ice entirely. But it seems to have been a mild rain and as such we've no ice outside the door. Bonus!

Forgive the picture not in the picture thread, but this is what made me very happy today.

I haven't been able to do it again since, as the damaged nerve is still recovering and it gets tired even after the tiny exercises I've been given to help improve function, but I smiled almost normally for the first time earlier! Two weeks post-op and this is a small sign that the nerve is recovering. I'm over the moon! Posted Image

Honestly, that is a better smile than I can manage on my best days. Glad to see you are quickly recovering.

As for what is making me happy, it's a decision I have made. Not going to say what it is yet, because I don't always follow through. I will update once I do.

Today is (most likely) my last shift on CCU before I transfer to CST for my boss' project, and I'm like to be gone for about three months. It may even become permanent. The change of scenery will be nice, and the office I'm going into is a lot darker than where I am now, being that we have a wall on one side and the Home Office on the other (complete with deportation wagons).

Plus it's dress down, and what could possibly make a regional managing partner happier than a shirt by my mate Zac's band:

My parents got a new puppy! They weren't planning on getting a new one so soon after they had to put their old one down, but a friend who does something with labs (breeds or rescues them or something not sure) and asked if they wanted one. He is gorgeous!

Spoilered in case it's massive again...

Being able to work from home one or two days a week is awesome but as I don't have an office or desk in the house it raises the problem of having work accoutrements in my face in my living space all the time. IKEA to the rescue! A few weeknights of flat pack furniture building and I have a space to shove it all away - out of sight, out of mind :) Storage solutions should not make a person so happy.......

Dont mock the power of pleasure IKEA can bring. (I've still not found Narnia in there yet though so not entirely satisfied, I give it 4/5)

22 is generally too warm for me. I like it to be about fifteen. Warm enough to go without a sweatshirt, but not so cold I get bullet nipples.

So the new role is going well. New department is managed several times better than the old. Only downside? I'll now be dealing face to face with Partners, and have a lot more contact with Associates.

Briar would be talking Farenheit, that would be -5 in Celsius.

Bah, farenheit makes about as much sense as algebra*

American football, that's the one where you can use your hands?
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.
