We've just booked a weeks holiday on a narrow boat - plan is to do the Oxford South, reckoned to be one of the most scenic. A week of gently puttering from canalside pub to canalside pub taking in the country, woo.

Many books will be required I think, considered started a complete SE re-read but that much paper may well sink the boat.

Now we just have to hope summer shows its face for more than a day or two!

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

MECHANICAL KEYBOARD FTW!!!!

Hehehhe, this is sooooo awesome! I just purchased a new desk for my room, which is eventually going to have a desktop computer, speakers, a nicely sized monitor (eventually-er, two of them, probably 23") and so forth, but atm I'm just connecting my keyboard to my laptop which is sitting where the screen will live. The clacking is just...indescribably awesome~! And the feel...this is going to ruin me for my work keyboards, unfortunately. :p (At least my laptop's keyboard was more-or-less full-size, so I'm not suffering too much "new keyboard syndrome", unlike when I had my little Alienware with it's midget keyboard...work keyboards probably also help. XD)

OH GOD. SO MUCH WIN JUST TYPING THIS POST!! All you regular keyboard users: you don't know what you're missing out on (or there is something wrong with you)!

I do know what I'm missing out on. This island style keyboard often used on new, slim laptops (like mine) is horrible to type on. Especially if you're used to mechanical ones, as I've got at work and my old laptop.

Last night, at my grandfather's beach house, I had the most mind-bogglingly clear night.

I looked up at the sky, and then suddenly it was 20 minutes later, and my neck hurt.

Something you never really get to see in the city.

Ok Sil for us comp illiterate people what is a mechanical keyboard? Lol

Ahhh. Essentially the keys are activated by a mechanical switch (think a sliding piston kind of deal) being depressed rather than in most "regular" keyboards a rubber dome is more-or-less squashed to complete the circuit. So it gives you a really tactile key depression seeing as the action is more defined and, well...mechanical. XD Plus if you get certain types they "click" really quite loudly too due to the action. :p

If you want a more detailed explanation (the overview is good, too) in a more informed manner than I can relate briefly here, I highly recommend this guide on overclock.net.

They're the old fashioned keyboards everyone had on their desktop before laptops. Compared to the slender versions of keyboards common now-a-days, mechanical keyboards have (for the most part) glorious tactility and travel time. After years of shallow laptop keyboards, it may take a little time to get used to, but once you've picked one up you'll never want to go back.

Finally home after a long weekend at the beachhouse.

Having a beer, feeling somewhat adequate.

My dad, my uncle and I moved ~a ton (2000 lbs) of sand that had washed into the driveway (which is the hazard of property that's on the beach). (EDIT) We really should have rented a bobcat.

So now the driveway is nice and serviceable, at least until the next big storm.

See, there is a reason I bought this keyboard :)
I am glad you like :)

Had a busy but good previous few days.
Spent two days helping two friends move their places into the new one they're at together. This included a literal truckload to the tip, which was fun to unload. We got all the moving done, and then I browbeat them into letting us help them set up their main room (currently trialling it as a lounge/study/dining room like I have at my place). This was so they had at least one room mostly done (helped them put the bed back together too), so they can have somewhere to sit and to eat etc. I think they were glad for it :p
I am also pleased because while I was pretty worn out, I was still surprisingly energetic come the end of it all (I was really the only one keen to move MORE stuff around to get that room done).
Then had a relaxing day, followed by a fun evening at Wolfy's place playing Hero Quest for the first time in about 10-12 years :p We totally almost died just on the first level :p
And yesterday we went to Shiara's parent's place for dinner and a movie, which was good.

"What did you brush your hair with? A grenade?" - Random stranger to Nilin XD

I am enjoying the first half hour or so of Remember Me a fair bit. I think I can see where some of the flaws may come in, but if it continues the way it's headed I fully expect them to be outshone by the rest of the game.

I spent the day running a chainsaw and pretending I was a Space Marine. Now I'm drinking rum. Life is fine.

So, between Nov '11 and New Years Eve '12 I'd been a smoker - about 4 a day on average, maybe two packs of 20 a week unless I was drunk etc - but I decided to quit the burny ones for the new year because I'm unimaginative about shit like that and switch to e-cigarettes. Vanilla flavour was actually pretty nice! I did slip up once while heavily pissed and after a fight with the gf back in late April/early May, had two tokes on a cig and tossed it cause it was Ass 2: Son of Ass tastewise.

My point is, the e-cigs were a placeholder and I just realised I haven't used mine in over a week. I don't miss either natural or electronic smokes. I think I've actually properly quit nicotine now. Fuck yeah.
