Friday!

Dinner at fancy Japanese restaurant tonight with the missus, possibly a movie after. Almost certainly French or Aussie wine and then in the wee hours when my insomnia tries to make me stay up I'll give it the big middle finger by continuing my GOTM re-read. Yosh!

I'm now off work for two weeks!

And I just booked a trip to the west country for one of them...

...which gave me the ideal excuse to order a nice wide-angled lense I've been thinking about for a while, to pick up on Wednesday, if all goes according to plan.

(And while we're there, since the Sky+ remote just packed up, is that an ideal reason to get a Sky HD upgrade instead? I mean, what's the point of an HD tv otherwise...)

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

While cleaning out the freezer to make room for storm supplies I found two big t-bone steaks. I will be grilling them while drinking beer. Woot.

Going to Can't Stop The Serenity today with Lex, which is a big Firefly convention for those not in the know. It's gonna be a mighty fine shindig! :ice:

It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

HiddenOne. You son of a bitch. You slimy, skulking, low-posting scumbag. You knew it would come to this. Roundabout, maybe. Tortuous, certainly. But here we are, you and me again. I started the train on you so many many hours ago, and now I'm going to finish it. Die HO. Die. This is for last time, and this is for this game too. This is for all the people who died to your backstabbing, treacherous, "I sure don't know what's going on around here" filthy lying, deceitful ways. You son of a bitch. Whatever happens, this is justice. For me, this is justice. Vote HiddenOne Finally, I am at peace.

With big thanks to HD for the inspiration. :ice:
The problem with people who have no vices is that generally you can be pretty sure they're going to have some pretty annoying virtues.

My granny and aunties were over for a barbecue, went and walk and managed it, generally had a great laugh and have been drafted to do some photography for the pipe band. Now watching the original True Grit with the family, all in all a good evening.

So, I have this mate who I met in sixth form. He's pretty cool, if insane a lot of the time. I also have a different friend who I met in university, and she's also pretty cool but less insane. They knew each other vaguely through being my friend, and a couple of years ago they actually talked to each other for longer than a minute while we were at a nightclub in a big everyone going drinking thing. They hit it off, got together and about a week ago he took her off for a holiday in Tunisia over her birthday, and on her actual birthday he proposed and she accepted. ALL THANKS TO ME (no thanks to me)

So I have two of my best friends getting eventually married, a engagement celebration party and lots of coercing them to make me the best man to look forward to. I'm damn happy for them (unless they actually make me the best man that could be awkward for their family).
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.
