Is his father a greedy undying king of the forest perchance?

I will investigate and report back! ;)

No undying king of the forest father..... but oh man that was bad.

Short version: if I wanted over the top sycophantic worship, I'd buy a puppy :p

Though I outright LOATHED that first single...the new Taylor Swift album is...good. It's not 1989 good, but it's very very listenable.

Well... we bought a puppy Wednesday.

This is Emma and she's 7 months old. Right now, she weighs about 50 lbs and is extremely calm and good. Her foster mother guesstimates that she is a German Shepherd/hound mix with some Great Dane thrown in there somewhere.

Okay....

I had some misgivings given how over the top the compliments over Facebook were before - I mean yes, I can accept I'm not The Thing From The Black Lake to look at, but you can definitely massively overdo the saying nice things thing! I did voice that sort of thing makes me a tad uncomfortable and otherwise kept politely changing the subject.

Then on the day, well, the fact I'd mentioned being uncomfortable was even brought up (by him) only to be dismissed with "I'm going to keep giving you compliments" in rather the manner of "because it's the thing to do".

(At which point I think I just about managed to not point out maybe he should get his head out of "The Handbook" and listen to what I'm actually saying.... I think I'd given up by then.)

Largely, there's just nothing endearing about talking to someone who's seemingly poleaxed by your very existence having only known you for five minutes. It's just weird and awkward and not fun. Couple it with unnecessarily finding reasons to touch me - nothing inappropriate but the sort of hand in small of back, hand on shoulder stuff. For no reason at all. Apparently twitching violently away is not hint enough to pack it in.

Other than that, just the general "no spark" and finding him far too full on.

Amph, she's lovely! Posted Image would agree there's definitely some GSD in the mix! I think I may well just go the puppy route!!

Cute pup but I don't understand why people give animal human names. Naming a human is boring due to social conventions but you can go all out with a pet.

I have to agree QT. Apart from that single, the album is good. Really good. I would still rate 1989 and Red above it, but its a very listenable album with some great songs.

She came with the name Emma and responds to it, so that was a big factor. My partner also likes giving human names to dogs and she cares about that more than I do.

My original suggestion during the dog finding process was "Waverly" with "Waves" being the diminutive. That was said to be a boy name by my partner, so we bounced a few names back and forth, but this one came along with a fine name that she knew.

I think my partner turning down Waverly means I get better naming rights for any human child we produce. So I'm willing to play the long game here.

The existence of chicken noodle soup. Less that an hour ago, I was a hungover zombie, unable to stand for more than 5 min at a time without needing to lie down, and seriously questioning whether I will ever be capable of eating anything without throwing up (having earlier puked up half a bottle of mineral water I left for myself yesterday when I was taken home by good friends)

Now I was able to walk to the bank and back, sprint to catch a green light (and the bus that came after it), as well as compose long, coherent apologetic messages.

I'm on my way to soccer, and barely an hour ago I would not have dreamed that'd be possible today. Perfect opportunity to sweat out most of that liquor so that I don't feel daed all of my tomorrow!

Ah yeah! USA! USA! USA!

US Women's Soccer Team beat Team Canada tonight 3 - 1.

The other night we played them to a 1 - 1 draw, which should never happen (especially to Canada). The officiating in that match was for shit. So much dirty play by the Canadians that they were allowed to get away with. I loathe Christine Sinclair on Team Canada. She's the dirtiest bully of the bunch.

USA! USA! ALL THE WAY USA!

[EDIT] They call these matches "International Friendlies". That don't seem to be that "friendly" though. hmmmm...
