Feeling better. I didn't fuck up as badly as I thought at work. I still hate it here, but I don't expect to get fired any time soon.

Yay..?

Yay!

Possibly heading back across the water for work. Basically away from the current employer was the ambition for the end of this week.

Congratulations and may the party/family gatherings not be too onerous for you two to have a great time.

Thanks! Actually we are going pretty low key due to several logistical issues. Plus neither of us believe in rituals and we both hate the typical Indian wedding so we are going with a smaller thing for only really close people. Next year though there will probably be a huge reception

I wish you all the luck in navigating the right balance between rituals/family happiness and your happiness. It's likely not going to be super easy doing that, but it can be done.

My older brother got married in a fairly quick manner (four or five days) and although he remains annoyed about how long it still took, having the families be happy was important enough that he unbent a little.

Congrats, Ando. Has she read Malazan? If not you might want to write up a basic prenup.

Tonight went to see jazz maestro Kamasi Washington perform from his masterpiece of an album The Epic.

To be honest "Epic" is a major understatement. I have been to many concerts but this one was beyond anything I have seen before. The musicianship and skill was mind blowing. I can't describe it except that I am still in awe an hour and a half after it finished!

The ritual thing is more or less decided... we were pretty firm about it. Our parents are happy as long as they get to feed hundreds of people (why, I have no idea) and as long as that is happening later they are fine. But in many many ways there are still a lot of balances to be struck

Hehe

She hasn't read it, but is very curious about it, mainly because I never shut up about it. She did gift me FoL though....

My youngest just slept through the night for the first time.

Sleep! Glorious uninterrupted sleep!

After the mild panic attack at why they haven't made noise all night.

I'm on the cusp of the no-sleep parenting thing soon, so posts like this give me hope that one day, one day...she will sleep through the night and the wife and I will eventually return to Slumberland for more than a few hours at a time. LOL

Good to hear you got some solid sleep!

I remember when my brother slept through the night for the first time - my parents were so happy. Then he woke up in the morning and threw up over everything

My mum leaves tomorrow and we get the spare room back. I'm booked in there for Friday night. Baby PigDog is a pretty good sleeper for now though. Four weeks old tomorrow and he does one spell of 5hrs sleep every night. Really hope it keeps going because he was really chilled during the day at first but it's going downhill rapidly :Rodeo:

And congrats Ando!

I bought my ticket to Amsterdam Comic Con yesterday! (It's in August) I've got a photo-op with Sean Astin!
