My wife and I got keys to our new house yesterday. We really got to start moving in today. Pretty much the first thing we did was go to IKEA to pick up a new shelving unit for our records and stereo system. I finally have enough room to actually make them look good. I'm stupidly happy right now.

The next step is my bookcases, which I'm expecting to be able to have finished on monday after the movers take care off all the big and/or heavy stuff.

I've stayed down there for a week a few years back. Somewhere near Stonehenge. Lovely part of the country. Took a few drives to the south coast from there. Bournemouth and Weymouth. Keep meaning to go back

Thanks! We stayed just up the road from Avebury last time, and caught the Farewell to the Sun celebrations there the night before the summer solstice (we might have booked the same week again with that in mind....) but we didn't do the coast last time, so I'm quite fancying Weymouth we have friends who live near Chippenham so it's a great excuse to go have a day with them as well.

Just got a call out of the blue, asking if I wanted to help out as crew on a short film being shot over the next few days. Perfect timing really, as I'm already down to shoot a music video next week, and hopefully starting a new job in a few weeks time. So, all the experience I can get now is really helpful in the long term.

Plus it's great for networking, since there is so much interaction amongst the various video people here.

The one downside is a 5:30 am start, as I am very much a night owl. Need to organise my shit right now, before bed, as I will be barely functional at that time.

Okay, I feel elated right now. Only last week I was worrying about my work contract ending in April and the lack of decent prospects for another position and today I've been offered a job to do research for a year and (hopefully/probably) publish (at the least) a paper on it.

Our cat is back at home, on pills for what we think/hope is asthma, eating heartily and seemingly in better spirits than she was days ago. No coughing/heaving fits so far either (which had become frequent over the last few weeks). We are to report how she is to the Vet in two weeks time, but so far so good.

We lavished her with attention last night and she curled up at my wife's feet for most of the evening. I hugged her and got a bit emotional. I'm glad she's okay. Thanks for the support from you all.
