Oh my, I'm close to my perfect setup.27" iMac Retina off to the right. 24" monitor right in front of me. 65" 4k TV "on top" of the 24" but 6' away. That's close enough that I can actually use it as a monitor or just use it as a VLC screen. Attachment Screen Shot 2015-11-08 at 4.25.23 PM.pngNow I just need to build a wheeled desk that will let me re-create this and be able to roll it out of the way for sitting in the recliner for pure movie heaven.Edit: and the dog loves having the couch right beside my office chair. :p

I've seen that. Makes me drool. But I'm not about to spend that kind of money without sitting in one first.

Following my pissed off at work post of a few weeks ago, made a decision that I probably won't take the training offer. The delay has given me time to assess and I look at the fee earners in my firm and they're all completely wedded to the job - they're all constantly under insane pressure, they're all stressed and I've realised that isn't what I want. I'm not totally against the idea of fee earning but I think it may need to be something I do in a less prestigious and high-net-worth firm where the stakes aren't so ridiculous and I don't have to pretend to be able to rub shoulders with people who earn hundreds of thousands of pounds a year and expect to be waited on hand and foot. It's just really not for me. Partner and I are in the fortunate position where we have a lovely house we can comfortably afford, and we can do everything we want to do and save some contingency money, because we're not extravagant people and aren't really after an extravagant lifestyle at all.

I think, the short version is that it's a happy person who knows when they have enough, and I've just sort of hit that realisation and that I don't need the stress and worry. Feel so much better at work as well for hitting said realisation.

Jäger's doing a little better tonight. Still not good, mind, but I'll take any improvement. Off to the specialist tomorrow.

I once read "the key to happiness is low expectations". And I don't mean that in a facetious way. I totally believe it, you don't need to have it all. Decide what is really important and just aim for that.

It's not even taken from the drink either - not specifically. First thing he did when we got him was to hunt.

Anyway, he's with the specialist in Wakey now. Seems very bright today, curious, didn't like the car sound on the motorway, very hungry for fuss. When I picked him up for cuddles he fully headbutted me.

And one of my friends set up a gofundme to cover treatment costs. Not gonna lie, I cried when I found out. Still can't quite believe it. There's a ray of hope just now.

Can you link the gofundme in case forumites want to contribute?

And yes he was 'helping' with the novel in that photo because he's a cheeky shit.

I'm not soliciting any sort of donations (asking for help always makes me feel like I've failed somehow) - but if people want to put in then I won't complain either.

Malazan finally has all the individual books as separate pages on TV Tropes :( It looks so purrty with all the book titles in blue :D Granted, the main page still looks somewhat like a wreck, never mind the characters page, but we're slowly chipping away at it :D

I read over the first page a bit and I felt that quite a few didn't apply or were a bit superficial

"Achey scras: Borne by Toc the Younger, whose eye keeps scratching."

Something I've observed a lot, even my wife says it on occasion. I just don't get it, though. Surely you have an itch and you scratch it. You don't have a scratch. Or is it some sort of weird English dialect thing I am unfamiliar with?
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Have a scratch, have a piss, have a verb. Basic English slang, to be honest. Have a wank... To remind myself - you're from the Netherlands originally, right?

It's a car crash, is what it is. And that's just the visible part of the page. What I was talking about was finally getting individual pages for each book, so that now we - my best friend and recent malazan convert, and I - can finally start cleaning it up. I'm currently making my way through the characters page, which is just plain bad by any possible standard, while my friend is probably going to take care of the book pages. One would think that's easily done, but this stuff takes a lot of time - especially when you're only two people and anyone else who edits it barely makes an effort.
