Worry, you have posted stuff from some of the people that Twitter friends of mine interact with regularly. Swarthyvillain and I talk regularly.

Lowenaffchen is hilarious.

Hatch chilies are in! Roasted a bushel last night. I wasn't in town last year, so I went an entire year without. Barely survived. Now all is right with the world besides, nuclear arms proliferation, flooding, starvation, war etc, you know the little things. If I were a poet, I would of paused to express myself in prose, however I'm a shit poet so I will spare you the torturous results.

Walking round Knossos palace in Crete.

Beautiful site. Lots of potsherds! Managed to find some quiet spots away from the camera-clicking multitudes, that convinced me further that there is such a thing as 'vestigium'. Worn steps up to the plaza, small rooms with alcoves and living areas, passageways, storerooms.. could almost feel the life recorded there.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

People using 'we' to mean 'they' has always perplexed me.

Sense of belonging, being part of it. If you're not into sports I guess I can understand you not getting it. I think there was a thread about it in here at one point.

I suppose, but the lack of a fourth wall between the spectator and player is still decidedly odd to me.

And no, I don't follow any sports. Well, unless we're talking pro-level fighting games tournaments, anyway.

Yup.

I still don't get why people do that "we" thing. I also have trouble understanding the "[team name] are crap." construction. They are a team, the very concept of team implies an attempted singular entity, which is why the proper way to say it is "[team name] is crap."

I'd wager that it's because people don't perceive the team as a singular, but as a group. A loose conglomerate, if you would.

Had an amazing birthweekend partying from one end of London to the other, with new friends and old. I now am a complete mess and feel like I could die at any moment. Totally worth it.

For our holidays, we brought our (100% indoor) cat to a friend of ours. This morning, he reported she did not come in last night. He spent the whole night searching for her in the communal (walled) garden before he messaged us.

Just as he returned from the local printing shop with the MISSING posters he'd made, the young lady showed up at the garden door as if she'd been gone for fifteen minutes instead of fifteen hours.

When he called, the sense of relief was insane. We were at that moment doing maximum allowed speed+ from the Polish seaside to Warsaw, with the option of a seat on the next plane home...

Tomorrow my good lady and I are going to London. We shall arrive in the morning, spend the day dilly dallying in our nations' great capital* and then go to the Queen's Theatre in the West End to watch Les Miserables. It is a birthday/anniversary gift to her. Can't wait cos I love the show and it should be a jolly good day anyway.

I'm very happy with myself! Over the past 3 months I've gotten my pain pill intake down by a good portion. I'm still hurting at night massively so the Ambien is still a must have or I'd be in bed crying but atleast during the day I'm not near as drowsy.

This is a very significant achievement.

Now get yourself a baked potato and some sour cream as a celebration.

Les Miserables was just stonkingly good. I'm still a little blown away the next morning...

Also in the airport just now my wife just told me "The price of that bottle of Lagavulin is really good you should buy it!"

Been given a temporary promotion (potentially lasting for 18 months) which gives me about an extra 200 quid a month in pay.

Couldn't have come at a better time

My wife does the same at airports. She hates Scotch...but she knows I adore it, and in her awesomeness always points out when it should/needs to be purchased.

Married the best women, we did.
