Duiker and a thought on Hood

I just finished re-reading DG and the Jaghut appearing in front of Duiker before he died got me thinking. The first time I read it I thought the Jaghut was the ghost from back on the plains that was standing guard over it's child. Duiker at least addresses him as such. What if Duiker was wrong? I remember it was mentioned somewhere that Hood might be a Jaghut, though I don't remember if that was speculation on our part or if it was mentioned in the books somewhere. So what if the Jaghut that appeared before Duiker was actually Hood?
What exactly do we know of Hood or his realm? Soldiers talk about it the same as we would talk about Hell. There is also reference to the fact that those who worship certain gods (Fener is one) will go to their gods realm at the time of their death. What if Hood's realm is a place for all those who don't worship gods in life? What if Hood wasn't a malicious god like everyone makes him out to be, but a benevolent one, taking in lost souls and giving them a place of rest befitting their lives endeavours? Would this explain the Jaghuts sorrow for Duiker? Could Hood be saddened by seeing mortals die?
Of course this might raise the question about what happened between Oponn, Paran, and Hood's messenger in front of Hood's gates in GoTM. If I could, I'd look up that exchange, but since I don't have my copy available, I'm left plagued with suppositions. What if Hood didn't want to let Oponn take Paran because he knew that Oponn would use Paran badly?
I may be way wrong here, but it's been bugging me since yesterday. Any thoughts?
The reference is on page 889 of Deadhouse Gates.

My oppinion is that Hood and the ghost Jagut are one and the same. This novel is heavy with Hood references and I have the feeling that it has hinted at some positions in high house death.
Spoiler
. I think Felisan was marked by Hood, previously (GOTM), in a bargan for Paran with the twins of chance. Anyone have ideas on Hood's rool for Felisan?

5 1/2 years later, alaric gets his answer!
My response? Original theory. And, a solid response Hoods Bane, but I'd keep reading and find out. But, know this: very few positions in the Deck of Dragons in a reading actually equate to real life. Readings are divinations meant to give the reader & listener an idea of events happening in the past, future, and present.

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Yes, do not go around re-animating the dead husks of long ago solved questions please, lest we risk summoning the dreaded Tiste Simeon.
Make a new thread, rather than go digging at the bottom of the forum list.
