when icarium was young, he saw his father taken by an azath house, he didnt know it but his father gothos wanted to be taken, so he would be safe and could be alone. Jhagut get enormously powerful when they go into a rage, this was in fact what t'lan imass would attempt to cause to happen, because then they would attack anything near, including other jhagut. icarium went into this blind rage and mortally wounded the azath house his father was in, his father moved thru the gates between azath housed and became the guardian of the tremorlor house in raraku or whatever that desert was. later t'lan imass impale a jhagut with a spear that pierces the mostly dead azath house and the spear comes to life and turnes the jaghut into a half tree (the jhagut that karsla orson gets the jhag horse from)
the azath house that icarium attacked was linked to Kurald Emurlahn, the tiste edur warran, that was wounded (presumably from the edur comming in and out of it, its said that every gate is an injury to the warren) and he eventually shattered it, pieces of it show up in many places, including mappo trells handbag (it can hold lots of stuff) and in shattering the warrant chaos leaked into him and causes him to forget.
icarium is pretty much invincible when he goes into his berserk moods, and can kill entire civilizations, so the nameless ones started planting friends with him to keep him under control, keep him away from other ppl that might make him angry. in mappos case they told hiim icarium killed his village, and he should go with him to make sure it doesnt happen anywhere else, mappo later finds out that the nameless ones were the ones that killed his village, and that the nameless ones were making icarium stronger in order to use him as a weapon

Couple of pointers. Gothos was not a Guardian of the Tremolor Azath. Tremolor was missing such a Guardian and that is why it chooses Moby. As far as we know he is not a Guardian of anything, rather he is a "guest" inside the Azath system, and something suggests that he may be doing more than just hanging out.
Icarium did not destroy the Tiste Edur warren. By the way isn't this something that isn't mentioned before HOC or MT?
