I think Kruppe is to an extent Erikson's Tom Bombadil and we're not actually going to get a proper explanation to him. I hope that's the case, I like it that way.

even though i knew that tom bombadil really had no purpose and shouldnt have been in the movie, i still RAAAAAAAAAAAGE!

I dislike this character a whole hell of a lot. Hopefully he will eventually be a bit more three dimensional in my opinion. I liked him in GotM most of all. Since then he is a constant souce of annoyance to me as I trudge through his parts. I think of him as a plot device and bear it.
The fact that he and the Mhybe held sway plot wise in MoI might have something to do with my disliking her so much.
All that aside. He appears to be a High Mage in Mockra at the very least, I would add Illusion as well (if that is different), and Telekenetic (with the way he steals pastries, but I have no idea what Warren that is.) I do not think we have seen much of what he is actually capable of doing with Magic as of yet. The tyrant is in trouble IMO.
