The Book Depository

I'm not sure how many forum members know of this place, but I just found out about it myself.
It's an alternative to Amazon.com/.uk/.ca etc. Yes, I know buying through those links support the site, but for those that can't afford the delivery fees The Book Depository is a great choice in that it provides free world-wide delivery.

Oh wow - I got all excited, but then I checked and of course, they don't deliver to Pakistan - so alas, no Toll the Hounds... sad.

I might start using this site. Amazon.uk is conspiring against me, and lost my TtH. Screw those guys.

absolutely awesome site. Ships to me in west australia in 7 days without fail. And works out much less than what I'd pay in shops here. I haven't bought a book in a shop here in over a year.

Interesting.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Might try it I see a slightly more established poster who has used it. Always wary of internet stores I have never heard of before,

I've been using the book depository for about 2 years now. I started when I was in London because they sent stuff by Royal Mail, not courier companies like Amazon (I had nothing but trouble with couriers there - books going missing, books left on the front door step [in a block of flats!], not leaving cards to say I had to contact them to collect etc.). I still use them now that I'm back in Australia, in fact I got a delivery Friday. Gotta love the free shipping!

Indeed, the same thing happened to me with The Bonehunters.

I thought the same thing, but it ended up they had lost it. They sent me another one of course, but I still had to wait a long time for it. I was still reading it when Reaper's Gale came out.

My replacement is supposed to get here by the 28th. I'm not holding my breath though.

I have been using The Book Depository for the last year or so. And I have been quite happy.
One weird thing I have noticed, is that they sometimes have book on Amazon.uk (Marketplace) but on their own website it says Unavailable.

When i checked the Book Depository site, I noticed a link to Abes Books for ones that they didn't have, or were unavailable.
Has anybody here used Abes Books? It looks like a very handy resource if reputable.

I had a problem with Amazon marketplace similar to that previously. The supplier only updated their marketplace listings every 2 days or something, and I caught it in between it going out of stock and them updating it. Can't remember which supplier it was though.
Binder - Abebooks is a brilliant site, yes, and very reputable

I've used Abe books in the past - they are not a bookshop as such, but have loads of booksellers linked to their site. I had no trouble receiving any of the books I ordered. The only thing there is that the shipping rates can be quite high compared to the price of some of the books I ordered.

Cheers for that Brood and Fandarey. I've often found that books i've wanted have been unavailable, so that gives me a viable alternative. Plus, I'm used to the high book prices in Ireland and now New Zealand, so the extra postage probably only makes it slightly more expensive than i'm used to.
e.g. To get Toll the Hounds here in NZ, i was quoted nz$60 for hardback. and wait a month. Amazon.co.uk would have been ~nz$35 wth approx nz$20 shipping and a 2 week wait.

Just wanted to say thanks for the heads up on this site. Got my copy of TtH today, perfect condition. It said 7-14 working days on the site when i ordered it, but only 3-7 working days in their confirmation email. Well it made it here, to the south island of New Zealand in 7 working days, which is amazing to me.
So cheers.
