Karsa will end up killing (or attempting to kill) K'rul.

Logic -
Karsa breaks chains.
The biggest chain on the gods is worship.
(Theory) That chain is caused by the warrens, and the linkage of power created by them.
Karsa is in Daruj to kill a god.
K'rul, an Elder God, is the warrens.

hmm
Nimander and Silanah will make lots of Edur-babies

Karsa will have to kill Beru--just cuz I want to see him/her, damnit!

not-so-crazy theory--The Andii will get involved in the mess on Assail and Nimander will send Clip there to keep him out of Black Coral.

Dassem is Dessimbelackis

Don't shoot, crazy theories are allowed!

But its said in HoC that he was there at the start with ST and Cot, and he has that special relationship with the hounds, his name fits, he's a wee bit crazy, and stuff.

Also, why can't it be him?

Dessimbelackis was the ruling sorceror/emperor of the first human empire.
He split his spirit into the Deragoth (supposedly to try to control them) and was lost to the world.
Dassem was the First Sword of the Malazan Empire. He had an affiliation to at least one god (Hood) but no 'magic' to speak of. He is also Dessembrae - Lord of Tragedy. His link to the HoS is unknown (to me at least) beyond ST saying they remember old loyalties or something. ST at least sounded like he knew what that was.

Mother Dark is done for the this 10 book series!
Cotillion dies!
Ganoes & Tavore never meet (again)!
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Hood wants Karsa to kill a God that will show up in Darujhistan. I don't think that's K'rul (prefers meetings inside Kruppe's dreams) or ST/Cot (as they were there at the same time as Karsa and nothing happened).

Also has to be some God whose death is beneficial to Hood and his plans. I feel more inclined to either the CG, Mael or even Osserc

MAEL

now THAT'S an interesting choice.... hve some rep
I do wonder, what's Mael's agenda in all this. He's the only EG (that we know of) who still retains an incredible amount of power, and he was against Errant's attempts to r-energize the Holds...

I suspect that RotCG (where Traveller is one of the big storylines) will have answers to that ... ICE DID want to release it BEFORE TTH, after all....
I'm still waiting.... another month till RotCG goes massive here...

3)In the meeting between Hood, ST and Edgewalker--ST bargained to take over the Throne of Death. That was what Edgewalker was mitigating as he promised to think about ST/COT's "lack of allies"

I think Hood knew what was going to happen and that meeting was where he got ST to agree not to go after Dragnipur.

q21's crazy theories time.

1) Picker is now Soletaken.
To get her soul back to her body she had to drink something in that place... wherever the hell that was. Blood, and especially the drinking thereof, is one of the routes to Soletaken(ness/dom/hood) - the Soletaken Eleint are described as having partaken of Tiam's blood, for example. I think she inadvertently took something back with her.

2) Chaur comes back as a High Mage of Tyr.
As he's being dragged into the Azath there is the description of Paths of Light opening up in his mind. Paths = Warrens... sort of... Even if he does gain some classical higher thought ability I reckon retains a lot of the what can and can't move method of sensory processing... just the limits on what can and can't be moved change a little.

3) Random Jaghut war/ Hood speculation.
I don't actually possess all the books so quite a bit of this is going on memory.

Firstly, Jaghut don't believe that there is an afterlife, they don't believe they have souls as such... correct? So why is the God of Death/the Afterlife a Jaghut? I think they know just how much BS an afterlife is, seeing as one of there own is the guy who Ruled it. I reckon the whole Jaghut war was an attempt to defeat death completely, although they themselves were immortal they pitied other races who died and then simply ceased to exist.

The reason I think their war on death as not for themselves was brought on by Kallor's response to that story. (The guy almost cried...) They lost, since there is still death, but they didn't get completely owned. What they did succeed in doing was to create an afterlife so that death wasn't truly final for, what are to them, the younger races. The result was that anything natural to Wu that died would go to Hood for safe keeping.

Since the Tiste are alien it would explain why the Andii are trapped once they die and it might explain why all the good characters who die in RG go to get a scene at Hood's gate, except Trull, who is Edur, and therefore alien to Wu.

Finally... Paran still owes Hood a favour. Maybe Hood plans to take his Throne back eventually and needs Paran's help to do so?

4) Whiskeyjack is from Seven Cities?
When Toc (least I think it was Toc) hears Whiskeyjack referred to as Iskar Jarak he wonders why Whiskeyjack is using a Seven Citites name. I always thought he was Malazan...
Flying Monkeys definitely win.

As soon as someone else killed Hood, Dassem was always going to try and kill that person. Hood knew this and therefore knew Rake could quite possibly die.

ST did agree not to go after Dragnipur, I think that meeting in the prologue is where that agreement was struck... not sure what ST gains from that whole bargain though?
Flying Monkeys definitely win.
