I feel like this could be a bit of an intellectual property minefield for them. I wonder if they've tracked down the original author?

Yes, they did track him down and credit him (Kris something?). They also tracked down the person who originally wrote the one they are using for season 2 (NO-END HOUSE).

SMILING MAN might be a tough sell as I THINK it's always been anonymous?

I could see them doing the British one about the Queen's Guardhouse soldier who runs into this creepy woman who just stands in front of him with her mouth open wide for hours. He is explicitly told by those who had his job beforehand on his shift to NEVER speak to her. Of course he eventually does....that's another humdinger story they could make a season out of.

Oh man that one is terrifying! That and the Russian Sleep experiment!

Please, if you want "awesome" science fiction, you gotta go back to the early 2000s. Fellows and fellowettes, I present to you; Cleopatra 2525!

This shit is so godawful bad, it's...I don't even have words for how bad it is.

Screw you all, and have a nice day!

Not sure why i torture myself like this occasionally , but I watched the second episode of the latest season of The Blacklist. What a steaming pile. I watched most of the episode on fast forward cos i couldn't take any more of the crappy dialogue, and weirdly alternating overwraught acting followed by wooden acting. The guy who plays Agent Ressler is truly appalling to watch, and they've reduced all the supporting characters to one-note line deliverers. And I maintain my opinion that the actress who plays Elizabeth Keen is really poor as well, though she isn't really well served by a rubbish storyline that has been flailing all over the place the last 2 seasons.

Even Spader seems liek he's going through the motions now.

I'm done with it, which is a pity cos there aren't too many other shows on TV here at the moment that are worth watching either.

Alright, so last night I watched the pilot episode of the new Macguyver show.

I suppose there's a lot that could be said about it; bad, boring, subpar acting, predictable, etc. But I think that the word I really think hits the nail on this pilot, is lazy.

It IS bad, it IS predictable, boring, full of bad acting, just really bad plot, you name it. But I think it's really because of laziness.

I saw MACGUYVER reboot, I knew this.
My only new show this season is WESTWORLD on HBO. Going to stock a few eps before I watch tho.
Back with the DC shows, sticking with ARROW and FLASH, will give LEGENDS another shot even tho I skipped about six eps of S1. SUPERGIRL just for the xover.

Bonus to LEGENDS this seasons is the addition of The Justice Society!

Anyone try Conviction and Timeless? I've got on dvr and not in a hurry to start.

Really need to start S6 AHS... 4ep built up.

I just finished Conviction. It's actually not bad. It kinda smells like the same old recipe we've seen before, with the anti-hero fighting the good fight with a heart of gold and what not. But this was actually not half bad.

I'll be watching this, definitely.

I'm excited because the CW now has its own Roku app that lets you watch the last 5 episodes of all their shows for free (presumably with commercials). But it's the perfect thing for cord-cutters and hopefully a sign of things to come -- as opposed to the awful "please sign in with your cable provider" trend most networks use. Now I'm gonna catch up on iZombie and won't be a year behind! Maybe I'll do Jane the Virgin too, if that's on Netflix. Probably won't have time for the DC shows you guys like so much, at least not this year, but I definitely want to eventually.

Usually I would make fun of Canada or something here, but I'm actually feeling old-fashioned, tapped straight from the maple tree sympathy.

Yeah, it sucks. Sorry, eh.CTV, the station that carries most of the CW shows, does make at least the last two eps available on their (mediocre unskippable commercial loaded) app.

Doesn't work, they're part of the programming. If you skip or try to bypass it automatically runs the ads before you can view the show. It's typically three fifteen seconds spots, which isn't heinous except that they're always the same spots and typically bad ones.

Watching it tonight. I'm hoping for an upward swing from what I saw last season. I'm giving it way more of a chance now that it's on the CW.

I heard tell that even though the CW effects budget is LESS than the CBS one...that the effects were better. Which is funny. But then, the effects house that the CW uses is EXCELLENT at getting things done on a budget, so I'm not surprised.

They probably save some dollars by having four shows with a lot of similar production requirements. Once you have a green screen of a character flying, changing the background and character visuals can be less work. Plus using the same locations with crews who know them well.

I watched about 3 minutes of the new McGuyver before changing the channel. He was kit bashing some medical gear to save some guy. The show actually labeled the bits he was pulling out of a car (Head rest support, windshield washer tubing, etc). Then when he rigged them together, the show labeled the end result (rib spreader or something like that). It was horrible. I nope'ed the hell out of that show.

I come in about like this as well after watching. They fixed some things, but left a lot of the crap on the table. Melissa Benoist's acting in this is STILL so stilted, and I'm unsure why. Her dialogue delivery is rough at the best of times...especially when she's in a scene with the excellent, scenery-chewing Katie McGrath. Tyler Hoechlin as Superman went a good way to making me like this ep...but it wasn't exactly enough. The things I disliked about the show last season (Wynn, Jimmy is not a nerd, and Cat Grant) are still present. Even the move of the DEO or whatever felt blah....the sister is still a crap character. Also, since when do Martian Manhunter and Superman (a decade into Superman's career) have an issue with each other over Kryptonite? Adding conflict between those two (who have never been at loggerheads in the comics; Jonz is too rational and Superman too good..for that) seems like a hackneyed attempt to make sure Superman doesn't have to be present on every episode to save the world, leaving it to Supergirl.

I'm giving it one more episode and then I'm PROBABLY going to be out (since I don't get the channel it airs on up here in Canada [not the same as Flash and Arrow for some bizarre reason] Showcase...and I have to buy eps from iTunes).
