Actually HBO started with season 2 of Strike Back but as I googled it I know season 1 has little to do with season 2. I used the HD on demand to watch the whole of season 2 without waiting for it on the schedule. Episodes 3 and 4 have Liam Cunningham in a very not nice role and episodes 5 and 6 have Ian Glenn (?sp). As for the actresses in the nude throughout - not sure.

It's true.
I worked for six years as Mr Bigglesworth's stunt double.
It was a dark, shameful period in my life. Note Mike Myers trying to strangle me in that pic.

Does anyone else shed a tear over Luck not being continued? Haven't seen all episodes but I found it strangely compelling in its uncomfortableness and well acted.

a) Mr Bigglesworth was not bald. Another cat actor was subbed for the post-cryo scenes.
Yes i know who it really is but it's funnier as Dr Evil.
c) there is no ©.
I'm finding a distinct lack of summertime tv.
May need to acquire a series or two... Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy are on the radar.

Tried it. Didn't grab me.
Too much soap opera, not enough stabby.

Also, MERLIN.
Tried it. Bored/predictable. I seem to have arrived at a point in life where, at least w genre tv, if it falls even broadly into the category of 'ive seen this done before', i'm out.
Out of habit, ten minutes into any hour long show i tend to predict where it's going. When the show follows that exact path, i get bored really fast. MERLIN is heavy w stock plots
and the characters and setting were so archetypical that there was no novelty to keep my interest.
This ruined ONCE UPON A TIME for me when the show repeatedly failed to surprise me even slightly
Nearly ruined GRIMM for me as well but every other episode or so managed to hold my interest at least a little.
It's also why i enjoyed LOST even at its worse. The sheer randomness and lack of logic to whatever would happen next kept me entertained.
GAME OF THRONES is so well scripted and acted that even if they were following the books to the page i would still be drawn in.

Abyss, a question: have you seen The Wire?
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

@Abyss: As to not liking DOWNTON...I guess there's no accounting for taste.
MERLIN needs at least a Series to get beyond stock plots, but after that it gets really good with a more united overall arc and better narrative. I don't need to tell you that genre shows need a bit to get their legs.

Also, the cat's non-appearance in the Legend of Korra thread suggests you have not yet seen Avatar: The Last Airbender. If not, you're missing possibly the best genre show going. And I've heard Legend of Korra is even better, though I've not yet seen it myself.

Unfortunately I found that from series 3 onward it started going seriously downhill. I really loved the 1st and 2nd series, and then I kinda lost interest halfway through 3. 4 was just cringe-worthy imo.

Wow, strange. I had the opposite experience. Series 1 was pretty predictable, but ultimately fun, Series 2 was better, if still sometime predictable, but Series 3 onwards was all great. Looking fwd to Series 5!

So, has anyone watched that show "Lost Girl"
I tried watching it and I even found it somewhat compelling up until the point where I recognized what had been nagging me about it.
It suddenly hit me that I was watching a morphed show of Charmed, Gilmore Girls and Sex in the City. Needless to say I screamed "BEGONE YOU SATAN SPAWNED SHOW!"
Nothing to see there, my friends, you can steer clear and not miss anything.

Korra isn't better than Last Airbender, it's just a worthy and impressive successor more or less.

So, Korra is worth a look?
I'll admit I was the kind of person unable to seperate the clusterfuck that was airbender the movie from the decent show that was airbender the cartoon. So when I heard Korra was something akin to airbender I steered clear.

Decent? It was fucking awesome. Many 'grown-up' genre shows could learn a thing or two about long-form plotting from Avatar, though there was one particular plot point that was resolved unsatisfyingly with a big fat DEM that seemed straight out of studio interference. Compared to Lost and BSG though...
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

PG's right on that. I'm not sure if you're saying you didn't watch all of Airbender, or just that the movie tainted your experience but you watched it all anyway. But if you've seen it all, then Korra is to it what presumably the Karsa trilogy will be to MBOTF.

One Piece is better. I've seen enough Avatar to know the strengths and weaknesses of both.

It's over 300 episodes and they still aren't on the second Piece??
