I've never reread Malazan. I just don't enjoy rereads. Do you reread?

And if i was to reread one book before tth which one should it be?

MOI or Reapers Gale?

I always do a re-read of at least the book preceding the latest one and the one that was the most recent in it's arc. I'm going to do a re-read of MoI and RG....maybe even TbH just because I haven't re-read it in a while.

If ever there was a series that demands at least one complete reread, it's this one. It's impossible to catch every detail in one read. I read the whole thing before every book comes out. Not this time though, as I got started too late. I'm only on MoI and TtH will be here in less than a week. So, I'll read TtH, then finish my reread, then reread TtH.

That's why the series OWNZ. I had to throw in the obligatory internet word

You can't ever catch it all. It's not enough that SE doesn't spoon feed us....he has all these little things sprinkled throughout the series that you don't catch the first, second, or even third re-read. Greatness.

For example, I just caught that Brood is part Bhargast. Who'd of thought? I think even after it's done, this is one of those series I will continually reread every year or so.

I never stop re-reading. It's sort of a continuous process.

I used to do that, but these forums have introduced me to so many other authors. SE is great, but if you ignore everyone else out there, you're missing out.

I'm still confused at Brood's genetic make-up.

And I'm not exactly sure if Barghast is a mix of human and trellish blood or what.

I see Brood as part Trell, part Barghast....part something big and tall and broad

Yep, I've just finished my second reread of RG. If I had the time, I would also reread MoI to reacquaint myself with the characters. These books are about the only series where I can just keep on rereading without getting bored.

Unfortunately, they're so good I can't help but re-read them. So nothing feels new.

I love rereading books, only those I like though. With all the excitement and anticipation building up to TtH's release, I've reread BH and RG, but not everything, just skipping and such.

I'm on my first reread thru the series.

Right now I'm up to Book 1 in Reaper's Gale which seems like perfect timing because I just got my email notification that amazon.uk just mailed my copy of TtH's! (probably take some time to get to the states)

I'm glad I reread thru before the new book came out, I've picked up on a lot of subtle forshadowing, noted minor characters reapearing thruout the series who I didn't take note of before (and noticed a connection between some characters from Night of Knives).

It's not like you're suffering thru rereads, since the books are so good in the first place :D

I rarely do rereads, I count on my memory, and the discussions here, to sustain my understanding.

Rereads although interesting don't appeal too much. I always have other priorities to meet or other books to read.

My exact sentiments. The discussions here keeps the novels frozen in time for me. I remember pretty much everything just by reading all the threads daily. I also read very carefuly the first time through and I take notes...

Notes actually help alot with a series like Malazan.

I am a speed reader and as such I find that I go through a 600 pg book in about a day. As such I have already done 4 rereads of all of the books and at least 5 others of BH. It was my bathroom book for about a month.
But I am weird in that I like to do rereads of all of the books in my library at least once a year. Even if they are really really old books I will usually take a couple of hours and finish them off. I really only like to get into new books during my school breaks. Unfortunately for school TOH comes out before the break...:D
How many fucking people do I have to hammer in order to get that across.
