But, I'm still under shock, not to mention that the last effects of tequila delirium still haven't worn off completely after the night of mourning. The last few minutes of the game were like a bad dream... I am so, so sorry for Croatia - they relly deserved to get in the top 3, and, except that, I really wanted to see them beat Germany again. :(

Thus the Euro 2008 ends for me. :D

I expect the coming Holland - Russia game to serve us a multitude of beautiful goals from both sides, I predict 5-2 for Holland tho :-)

Im hoping the Dutch win, the worse Russia do the worse it reflects on England, and I do love it when there's an excuse to berate our lazy, overpaid bastard players.

Although if Van Persie plays it'll mean he's used up his quota of minutes for the season where he's actually fit, which isnt good.

I don't envy the Germans playing the Turks. They will be totally insufferable if they beat the Germans, I was in Germany during Euro 2000 and my mate had on his England shirt. In the space of the 4 hours we were out, 5 different Turks tried to start a fight with him because of his shirt.

When your home country lose it should the one time you can be miserable together. There's nothing worse than being miserable while the opositions fans party in your fountains

Exactly, that's why we would have pefered Croatia. There so many Turkish people here they will have an impact on the streets after the match, no matter how it ends. And some German 'fans' aren't exactly paragons of tolerance, either. :mad:

Well, I must say, everybody here was afraid of the Croatia-Turkey match for the same reason: There are some 70.000 Turks and 20.000 Croats living in Vienna, plus some 100.000 fans from both sides were expected to visit the city for the game. Vienna has put ca. 1.000 extra officers on duty Friday night, fearing clashes between the fans. But nothing serious happened.

I was watching the game in Ottakring, a district populated mainly with foreignerns, that was proclaimed to be a potential war-zone. But Croatians were quite cool about the outcome of the game. The celebration was huge - like nothing I have ever seen in Vienna - and the traffic chaos that resulted from it was the only actual trouble. A large number of Croatian fans, mainly the ones living in Vienna, were celebrating along with the Turks; many of them exchanged t-shirts, so after midnight you couldn't distinguish anymore who in the crowd belonged to which side. Austrians joined the celebrations as well, and the atmosphere and good vibes that could be felt all around the city last night I will remember for the rest of my life - it was really awesome and a lot of fun, despite the fact I was actually cheering for the Croatian side.

There were minor troubles nearby in Ottakring where first Croatian and then Turkish fans clashed with the police, throwing bottles and stones, but those were caused by a tiny minority of drunk idiots (almost all of them guests - their local colleagues were trying to calm them down) who were quickly arrested. Those clashes have left only two persons slightly injured.

So I think that Berlin shouldn't be panicking - if it worked well in Vienna, it will probably go well in Germany too. I'm sure there will be a few idiots who will be begging to get arrested in the night of the game, but in general I trust the people will take it cool. Except that - Turkey will win... so don't worry. :mad: :(

Dag, I'm not so sure. Both the Turkish and Croatian people in Vienna share an imigration background, while in Berlin and the other towns it's imigrants versus locals. And Berlin-Kreuzberg is a war zone even without soccer. High unemployment among both groups and all that.

In American football, when two considerably talented offensive teams meet, the score is usually not as high as everyone expects.

I'm predicting a 1-0 Dutch victory.

Loving Kulodin's shots from the corners. Have to say I thought Russia looked the better team during the first half. Lots of chances though, and the Russians look shaky at the back. An entertaining 0-0, as opposed to the mostly boring one at this stage last night.

Now I have no idea anymore... the Dutch don't seem to be riding their goal high anymore... the Russian keeper doesn't seem anywhere near as sure as van der Sar who seems to be in top form as always, so if both teams go into a frenzy then chances are it will go to the Dutch, but god I hope we can get some more excitement outta this game :mad:

Both teams seem more cautious now though.
