with the season drawing to a close and the awards being handed out i thought we should come up with our own!

so who do you think is the most underrated/unappreciated player this year, im talking about the prem but if you have someone on your mind from a differnt league that you think deserves a mention fell free.

im going to start the ball rolling with Mathieu Flamini of arsenal. with cesc and Adebayor getting all the praise and headlines i feel he is often left out, he gets through a power of work, all the dirty stuff that allows the rest to play. recently match of the day worked out(dont ask me how) that he covered the most ground of anyone a few weeks back and i think that says it all.

also for a work horse he has some nice touches and can pass a bit(suppose wenger would not pick him if he couldn't!!)

so what do you guys think?

Carvalho - rock solid at the back, rarely makes mistakes apart from on Saturday. He doesn't get much attention from football fans in general though.

Robbie Keane!! No one ever mentions him, but the work he does is astonishing, and he scores a fair few as well.

How you could insult the noble sport of rugby by calling it footie is beyond me. Shame on you sir. Shame.

The noble word footie should not be degraded with the girl game of soccer.

Footie means these in this order:
1. Rugby Union
2. Rugby League
3. Australian Football

That is all. (And I'm being generous with the AFL, it isn't much of a sport either)

Girl game of Soccer. It's called the beautiful/handsome game for some reason. What a game to play. How can the term footie be more applicable to rugby than football?

The term football is not applicable to soccer.

And there's a reason you called it a 'game' not a 'sport'.

I'm amazed that a game/sport played almost entirely with your feet and a ball is deemed not applicable to the term foot-ball, baffling. You've must have some type of pre-disposed definition which no one else can hope to understand.

Why is Football/Soccer not a sport? It's a business more than anything else to be honest. Although the Oxford English Dictionary actually defines Sport with the example of football (next to hunting, racing and cricket).

Something tells me you're an automatic football/soccer hater because of its popularity in other countries and worldwide. That's fair enough, it seems to fit with your personality. I would just recommend that you stick to facts - unless you have any contradicting evidence. Football/Soccer could be referred to as a sport/game/business, and it certainly merits it's name football by definition.

My personality? Try my nationality, ignoramus.

And have a cold shower or something, you're a little overexcited.

You show your true colours by insulting other forum members again.

So you're saying that everyone from Australia hates football/soccer (I know it not to be true), I would say it's a mix of personality and cultural impacts. I didn't feel the need to hand the entire blame on your nationality although it's so obvious it needn't be mentioned. I meant your personality in its social and cultural circumstances leads to your opinion, that's how it should be analysed. I have a decent familiarity with Australia, I do have a lot of family and friends there so that's not a problem for my comprehension even though I'm an "ignoramus". It's amusing that you imply your nationality allows you to defy logic in arguments, it's your choice how you argue though.

You're imagining things because you believe arguing against someone with emotion means you win by default. You like to be proven wrong as you state from time-to-time, I think you are. Stop lashing out at people who expose your weakened side. And stop seeing emotion where there is but words.

Breath? I don't need to breath, I have iron lungs. On another note, Waterstones never had Night of Knives so no prologue and first chapter for me :D

I've had a brillant day so far anyhow :p.

Let's get back on topic. I think Lampard has been underappreciated this season.
