It is mentioned that Edgewalker is a slave to shadow and bound there, also used as last line of defense against outside threats like the stormriders.

The creature did not turn away from the glacial cluff. "True. But this is the more deadly threat. I must remain ready should this break thought and reach the House.

The gave me the idea, that perhaps there are elemental forces defending other warrens. It might be all or maybe just Darkness, light and shadow, the three bound together somehow it seems.

What do you think?

I don't think we have enough info to make any guesses.

Olar Ethil defends the warren of the beast though.

Uhm, good question... I can't remember an exact place but she guarded the temple at the end of the path of hands. The Soletaken that had reached the goal would had been able to take the throne of the Beast Hold.

Of course, it's mentioned later that Togg and Fancy wouldn't had accepted that for long.

If its good you should give rep

Don't really recall her being deployed as a defense in deadhouse gates, but I guess a quote hunt will be necessary to make sure.

But I know there has been discussions about what elemental forces are, elder gods or something else. I would like to know how an elemental force who seems to be incrediable strong manages to be a slave to Shadow. There are more to warrens then what meets the eye I suspect.
This also makes me recall the cryptic pondering walker on Edges does, where he states that maybe there are a reason the throne of shadow should be free.

In regards to the question, Apts right, we really don't know enough as of now, though I'd say it's a plausible idea.
