Hey guys...so I've been thinking about how we have a lot of talented artists on this board. Why don't you guys have a contest? Anyone can enter as long as it is A SERIOUS ENTRY. We can figure out a deadline and see what you guys have....under pressure
Perhaps we could even put the winner's piece somewhere on the site as bragging rights....if the admins approve of course

Can I be the Simon Cowell-equivalent judge?

For those of us that work in oils, this deadline had better be a decent ways off (like, a month or two).
Edit: Actually, more like two or three months. Hell, time it with TTH, or maybe ROTCG. We could even do a theme that revolves around possibly relevant subjects to do with each book.

This would be a good thing to see happen...I can't draw or anything, but with the quality of work i've seen, it would be interesting to see what happens when there is competition involved.

I would probably take part, depending on the deadline. Finding time (when i'm not too tired from real work) for fanart is difficult

should this thing happen, I'd like to have a pop at Mappo. Does anyone have any cast iron discriptions of him, as I've just tried to look him up on the encylopedia thingy, but I can't access it any more.
Get to the chopper!

Sounds cool
The leader, his audience still,
considered their scholarly will.

and with anguish he said,
"But how will we teach them to kill?"

Ok, glad you guys like the idea.
So what would be a comfortable deadline for all you artists?
We'll settle on that then we'll figure out how to judge the entries, I suppose.

I'm cool for anything, but would need at least a week to turn out something half ok.

Here you go Batallion:
'...eyes the colour of sand, eyes set deep in a robustly boned, pallid face...bristle-backed hand...' (DG, UK MMPB, p.41)
'-big even for a Trell - the shoulders broad and maned in black hair, the sinewy muscles of his long arms, and the thousand years that capered like a gleeful goat behind Mappo's eyes.' (DG, UK MMPB, p.43)
'Short and wide as a siege engine, his skin a deep, warm brown, his black hair braided and studded with fetishes. If anything, his canines were bigger than his companion's (Icarium), and looking much sharper. A Trell.' (DG, UK MMPB, p.302)

A SERIOUS ENTRY
I'm out but mainly because my talent lay in the art of expression, charm, handsomeness and words, not painting or sophisticated drawings although I'm an demi-adept at sketching.

I think he means a serious entry, as in:
Don't paint stickfigures. Save those for the (extremely awesome) 10 minute sketch thread
Anyone who wants to contribute should be encouraged says I

Sounds like a pretty good idea!
Whats the reward 'flexing' rights how about everyone from England's side of the pond come bow at my feet!
Still ironing out the details as in any entry that the artist provides is valid or will there be a target that all contestants have to try for then submit when they're done?

I think the artists should be able to submit whatever they want.
