One of his better books, until the end, which is confusing and somewhat deus ex machina'ed. The story arcs are interesting, and he actually gets rid of a few main characters!

Certainly not one of his worst books. In my opinon, worth a read if you like his other work, but if you aren't a Fiest fan this one won't change your opinion of him as an author.

PS - Its book 3 of one of his Trilogies, so I wouldn't go pick it up if you havn't read the whole story before it, or at least the two just before it.

I flicked through it in the shop. I've been keeping half an eye on his more recent series because there are some semi-interesting things, though I wouldn't buy them- I borrow when I can. But it was written terribly, or at least the bits I read were. Really really clunky.

I didn't know most of that, since I haven't read the book, but it's nice to know that he's taking risks with his writing, even if I'm disappointed by the prose itself (and it might have caught me on the wrong day, I'll probably give the book a try from the library some time).

His Prose isn't the best, but hes throwing around some interesting ideas, which is sometimes better than great prose and the standard fare.

There are, I believe, going to be at least two more 'Rift' wars after this series (this being the third) although there may be more filler books as well according to the latest interview I could find.

I quite liked the brave moves in this book including the final twist. This book had far more unpredictability than the later novels which is a good sign as it means he's willing to try new writing. Not as great as Magician, but still worth a read.

I read the headline and thought it said "Wrath of a Mad Fist" by God and had thought that God took over for Ian Cameron Esselmont. Oh well, we can dream can't we?

I thought the story line was one the better ones yet the overall stroy seemed rushed. Feist spent the first 250-300 pages building up the plot line then the last 1/3 of the book rushing through the plot. I think Feist should have spent another hundred pages adding details during the climax.

Eventhough I was pleased overall, Feist did a horrible job writing this book. The idea, plot lines, and plot twists were good, but he made a few factual errors that brought the book down.

edit: erased stuff, trying to figure out how to use spoiler tags.
