"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

I've been waiting to do a massive chronological reread leading up to PEACE TALKS, but I needed this to come out first.

Where is peace talks! Where is the book that was promised!

The Dresden crack is becoming so dilute in my blood!

So Jim Butcher did an AMA on Reddit.

He has announced that he is aiming to finish Peace Talks by September.

Also he said that the Cinder Spires series could be a trilogy, hexalogy or nonalogy depending on reception and sales.

Saw it. I am actually considering skipping Peace talks until we know what kind of writing schedule Butcher is on. I don't want to read a series where I have to wait 3+ years between the books.

There is no power of gods or men that could keep me from reading Peace Talks.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

You're gonna wait the same amount of time regardless.

This annoys me. Not sure how far in advance he had planned Dresden or the furies of calderon (supposedly he wrote this to win a bet so who knows) but id say sales follow a good story. A good story does not follow sales. The idea of changing a trilogy to a nonalogy because the fans will buy it seems greedy rather than a good thing.

That might just be a publishing decision. Say Butcher has three trilogies set in the same world. The first is a huge hit, his publisher greenlights the second one.

I take it you've never heard of the Wheel of Time then?

It's over Cause, Butcher has the high ground.

He says he always had at least 20 novels planned? It was always meant to be a long serialized story. If he turns a trilogy into nine books though just for profit I can think of many examples where it failed.

Anyway the geography where I stand superior to yours

I went to two different stores to try to see if that "early on the Canadian Shelf" Butcher magic was in evidence....it was not this time. I have to wait till tomorrow like the rest of you plebs people.

I mean, a lot of novel/comic series work that way, with the first book or story arc standing on its own, and letting sales dictate whether the story continues further. (Hell, Stover has another Caine trilogy in the wings, if he could find a publisher to pay for it.)

You know, when you hit a bunch of threads with one liners...not all of them land, but I appreciate the effort involved!
