Probably not. He should and hopefully will. But after years of watching criminal assholes get away with everything I’m not optimistic.

This is where I stand. Barely any of these fools have done any time, and those that have don't seem to have been slapped down that hard time-wise....

I wish they would be held hardcore accountable, but I'm not holding my breath. The US justice system is a mess.

The sentencing for his contempt of congress conviction is on October 21. Barring anything perverse happening -- which is always possible -- he will be sentenced to jail or prison at that time. Though the max sentence is only two years. And it's clear he's willing to appeal up to SCOTUS.

The Wall fraud crimes for which he was indicted in New York are essentially similar to what he was being tried federally for and for which DJT pardoned him. Two of his major co-conspirators were not pardoned and ultimately pleaded guilty to the federal charges, and are also awaiting sentence. The evidence is extremely unambiguous, but a third conspirator -- the only one to actually go to trial -- had his case end in a mistrial due to one holdout on the jury, and will apparently be tried again. Ultimately, I don't see Bannon being acquitted, that would be shocking, but mistrials are definitely a possibility even in NYC.

'Trump shared a picture of himself wearing a Q lapel pin, overlaid with the QAnon phrases “The Storm is Coming” and “WWG1WGA,” on his Truth Social account [...]

Posted Image

[...] “How much more obvious can it get?” one QAnon follower asked in the QAnon-focus Great Awakening forum.

[...] In QAnon world, the “storm” is the moment when Trump will reveal his secret pan to dismantle the deep state and the group of elites QAnon followers believe are operating a global child sex trafficking ring. The “storm” will also, they think, trigger Trump’s return to power and the public executions of those who have acted against him, from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to current President Joe Biden.

[...] claimed that Trump posting this photo just days after the death of Queen Elizabeth [... who they considered a major player in “the global child sex trafficking ring”] was an indication that this time the “storm” really is coming [Trump got her?].'

Trump’s Not Even Pretending to Hide His Support for QAnon Any More

Trying to appeal to those most detached from reality, and potentially most fanatical---perhaps most willing to try to storm government buildings (this time with lots of guns blazing) or at least try to break him out of prison (at the expense of their own lives---though in that case I might expect more of an appeal to the intersection of QAnon with belief in the afterlife... so perhaps the absence of 'Heaven' is comforting?)?...

The office has also passed along evidence to federal prosecutors in Manhattan and the Internal Revenue Service “for criminal investigation,” according to a statement.

Nothing will happen. A hundred scandals that were supposedly going to put Trump in prison didn't matter. The system is not designed to hurt billionaires.

I'd love to be proven wrong.

Would it be too much to ask for a spontaneous, small, hyper-intense but temporary hurricane to manifest at Mar-a-Lago?

I’m starting to think that Biden should just take a cognitive test and publish the results if they are ok, and if they are not, step down. He is not helping the Democratic Party at this point.

Why, because he thought mistakenly (or perhaps forgot) that a random single congressperson who died in August was still alive during an off the cuff moment in a public speech?

See this is the shit that drives me nuts. The Republicans and Trumpers do and say a whole slew of almost uncountable heinous shit and no one ever holds them accountable, but an older man on the other side of the political aisle forgets a single person has passed away and all of the sudden he needs a cognitive test...?

I'll be really clear as someone whose wife literally works with elderly people and cognition in the health care setting...forgetting things like this is normal as you age (especially in an on-the-spot moment during a public speech), it's only a cognitive decline if you forget WHY you did that thing or know about that thing. It would be cognitively worrying if Biden forgot he knew that person at all, or that they were involved in his point, or even if he reinforced that she was alive when he was reminded she'd passed.

I should be clearer in fact, the analogy that's used is "Forgetting you put the pot of water on to boil is normal...but forgetting WHY you put the pot of water on the boil in the first place is a symptom of cognitive decline"

Him just forgetting a random person relevant to the point had died last month is not and would never be a symptom of cognitive decline. It's just a moment of forgetfulness that happens to everyone as they age.

Jeezus.

We're talking about a vocal, blatantly obnoxious group who spent massive amounts of oxygen demanding Barak Obama's birth certificate and criticizing Michelle Obama's wardrobe. Biden could sneeze on video and they would demand COVID testing and celebrate his impending death.

Biden is far from the Dem's biggest problem.

Oh I agree it was likely a normal blunder, but the best way to make the republicans shut up is to present them with facts.

And btw, I AM a diehard democrat that doesn’t follow republicans like sheep. It’s all about getting truth out while being prepared to deal with the consequences if there are any.

Wait, what about the last 6 years tells you they will accept facts even if they are irrefutably offered? This would be a pointless exercise even if Biden did it.

Conservatives who ask you for proof/facts don't WANT proof/facts...they want to make you do all the work involved in meticulously providing proof and will promptly and out of hand disbelieve you. If they wanted/liked proof or facts, they would not be Conservatives.

Unrelated to the above...
Bolts (a digital magazine, found at https://boltsmag.org) is a very good source for downballot information throughout the US -- it covers the kind of info for state races that most journals only do for national & top ballot races. Right now its largest beat is those who want to improve elections & expand the vote vs. those who want to do the opposite, putting it mildly -- for instance, they just put out this guide for the Secretary of State elections happening throughout the country this November: https://boltsmag.org...tate-elections/ with a state by state breakdown. They did a similar one for the state supreme courts: https://boltsmag.org...ourt-elections/

They can't cover everything everywhere, naturally, but they do excellent journalism (and more) on fronts that are simply missing from other outlets, and I recommend giving them a follow wherever you do your following, particularly if you ever feel out of touch or a little antsy when it comes to downballot candidates and issues.

They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Judge cannon really does seem to be going out of her way to protect Trump and twist the law. What recourse if any is there? I mean it’s getting national attention but she seems able to to get away with it regardless.

I’m not a lawyer so is it as bad as it looks?

Appointed for life, so unless she's impeached by congress, I believe, there's nothing that can be done.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!
