What are your top five rankings for sweet cereals? Overall top five in all categories of cereal rankings?
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Easily

1. Cheerios (Plain)
2. Raisin Bran Crunch
3. Honey Bunches of Oates

I would pass on others.

Can't do overly sugary breakfast cereals like when I was a kid, my job demands too much concentration and focus to be hijacked by a sugar crash. I will still get down with a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios or Frosted Flakes every now and again on the weekends though.

But for the most part, as far as a cereal type of breakfast goes, I will often do a bowl of oatmeal. And not that instant crap either, but a fine, artisan quality, 'steel cut oats' oatmeal. I will then augment it with a pat of butter (for a fat requirement), maybe a light drizzle of either honey or maple syrup and definitely some fresh fruit - like raspberries, blueberries, strawberries and bananas.

Amen to that. It's an utterly artificial food invention manufactured for unfortunate people who are always in a rush in the morning. Cereal depresses me. It's the breakfast choice of exploited automatons!

Totally. I mostly despise the manufactured notion that cereals equal a good breakfast. And, that eating a small quantity in a bowl with milk is somehow going to keep you going through the morning. It's such bs!

Some cereals are ok I guess, but if you want any benefit at all from them as a fuel you need to eat a big pile of it, and the ones with decent grains and fruit cost a bomb for a box which will only last a couple of days. I do sometimes get them, and stick yoghurt on the top, but you need quite a bit of it.

All other weird sugary cereals are utterly useless as breakfast. Most of them you can grind into powder, there's nothing there at all.

I usually stick to coffee. Or eat some fruit, eggs or chicken or something that actually has some substance to it.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Oh it makes me so happy to find like minded cereal haters. Nobody else has ever agreed with me before. Possibly because my hatred is usually mumbled only occasionally at a breakfast table when everyone is half asleep.

I can't do hot breakfasts, never been able to. The thought of bacon and eggs et al in the morning makes me feel ill. Hence I could never do a McDonalds breakfast.

It usually takes a while before I can eat after I'm up. Unless I went to bed half empty and wake up hungry, but that's rare.

On work mornings I don't do breakfast these days as I don't have time and since I do PT, I have found that if I eat before PT it makes me feel sick. I may eat around 0900-1000, usually some yoghurt, a banana or such. Iused to have weetbix and milk at work (kept in the fridge) but a combination of not enough time and fucking selfish arseholes stealing my (clearly labelled) milk for their coffee made me stop that.

If I eat cereal it's probably going to be 4-7 weetbix and milk. I don't mind the taste, it's quick to prepare and easy to bolt down.

I was out drinking with some friends one time and we got into one of those discussions that organically pop up after you've tipped a few (or more) and the alcohol buzz has taken strong hold. So, we got to talking about our favorite childhood cereals and I expressed that one of my favorite childhood cereals was Lucky Charms. And my good friend made an excellent point: he said kids only ate Lucky Charms for the marshmallows. Once you strip away the marshmallows all you have left is what looks like cat food and which doesn't taste all that much different from cat food (not that he or I know what cat food tastes like Posted Image). But after he made the observation about Luck Charms, I had one of those drunken, light bulbs going off moments. My bleary, glossy eyes widened as I looked at him and I said "holy shit, that is so true". Damn, that was a moment.

Thats the fucking beauty of Lucky Charms. Just marshmallows would be horrible, just catfood is horrible. But in the right proportions its fanfriggintastic.

Gross! Posted Image I just fell upon an ad for this flavor of Cap'n Crunch. Disgusting, take the ship into orbit and nuke this abomination from space. Original flavor of Cap'n Crunch only or GTFO!
