Favorite Character(s)

Female: Apsalar

Favorite scene: Apsalar killing Pearl. Absolutely loved that scene.

To many male characters but any interaction between Shadowthrone, Cotillion and Traveler is simply awesome. I love those scenes.

Some not-yet-mentioned memorable scenes for me:

MT when Tehold and Bugg meet with the Rat Catchers' Guild. Sheer silliness, culminating in Scint biting the head off a rat for no apparent reason and everyone staring at him.

On Drift Avalii when Cutter summons Blind. The way the Edur warlock handles her, and then Cotillion showing up is extremely well written.

My favourite as-of-yet-unmentioned scene: Following the battle of Drift Avalii, Cotillion and Shadowthrone taking Hawl's body home.

Favourite Character: Maybe Deadsmell. All his appearances in RG were great. I really like the secondary-character mages, like Spindle, Bluepearl, Balgrid, etc.

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

My favourite character would definitely be Cotillion, because of his awesome skill in fighting, even Kalam admitts that he is not nearly as good, and his personality that seems not to exclude feelings like maybe Rake. He appears human.

My favourite scene, or rather chapter, is when Kalam fights his way through lots of Claw assassins, and Apsalar tears the whole Claw apart afterwards.

Tayschrenn getting angry, blowing up all that is thrown at him and attacking Yath is great.

My favourite scenes are Fingers getting dunked in the water in RotCG, the Kruppe/Iskaral Pust showdown, anything involving Shadowthrone or Tehol/Bugg, the battle at Coral in MoI, the interactions between Malazan soldiers, especially the BB's, and of course, "I'd kill the mule!".

Favourite characters would be Antsy, Shadowthrone, Iskaral Pust and Tehol, for pure comedic value.

My fav characters would have to be Fiddler and his squad of marines.
Their chatter is sheer comedy.

My fav scene would be when Karse Orlong beats the snot out of a k'chain che'malle type of beastie.

Fav scene has to be Karsa killing the Derogath.

Its probably the best badass moment in the series.

I must say I was impressed with the Murrilio fight where he got killed. I found that whole scene captivating and I was on the edge of my seat reading it. I knew he wasn't going to lose, but in the back of my head I was thinking 'what if...' And then he's dead and I'm gnawing on the corner of my book crying.
I want to die the way my dad died, peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming in terror like his passengers.

When Crump was about to light his cussers at Y'Ghatan, I felt an insane giggle escape from my throat. What was to come next, was going to be COLOSSAL.

My favourite scenes are with soldiers-they are the lifeblood when it comes to humour in the books.

But all-time favourite scene is at the Sekala River in DG, with the Chain of Dogs. It was the first show of Coltaine's incredible tactical smarts.

It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

Favorite scene in the entire series might have to go to Tehol and co musing about the chickens as they wander everywhere, catch on fire, get stuffed in pillow cases, etc. Every bit of that was comic gold.

:( Love this scene.

Other favorite T/B scenes:

Tehol: "So, how was death?" Brys: "Wet."

Mael: "So what are you going to do today?" Tehol: "I still need to appoint a Preda." Brys: "Excellent!" Tehol: "I was thinking of appointing Ublala Pung."

Fiddler's song in TBH, with its brilliant conclusion. "Stormy, it's for you."

Hellian's memory of stomping on people dressed up as spiders in Kartool. :)

Most touching scenes:

The Bridgeburner's entombment & Itkovian's entombment in MOI.
The destruction of the rest of Coltaine's troops while the Aren Legion looks on.
Trull's death.
Chaur's "rebirth" in TBH.
Apsalar when she hears that Crokus is "dead."
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Fav character Iskarul pust and his mule or the drunken female sgt from tBH & RG with fiddler a close second

Fav scene there are so many but the two that stick the most are the crucified dragon and the laosin's (sp?) run in with malazan marines

In BH, when Fiddler says "Kalam Mekhar, my friend. Farewell." That scene was very moving.

My favorite characters are a toss up between three characters: Toc the Younger, Fiddler, and Bottle.

The scene under Y'Ghatan is well-written and moving and because of that it is one of my favorite scenes in the series and outside of it. Fiddler's song towards the end of the same book is another and I do believe there is yet another somewhere in The Bonehunters. Which is likely why I consider it one of my favorites in the series and the only one I try to make a point to reread. Then there is, of course, Itkovian's death, the many Tehol and Bugg scenes, and the reference in Toll the Hounds to Kruppe's war-mule, which immediately precedes his face down with Pust.

The showdown between Kruppe and Pust was masterful...the anticipation of it was clear in the writing ("Thus, the tableau is set.").

Fav character is Fiddler, followed closely by a whole wedge of marines, I love the banter and all round attitude of those guys!

Fave scene is tough, many good ones have already been mentioned so i'm giving an honourable mention to -

Quick Ben and hedge giving it large to the dragons (Menadore etc) in RG. It was nice to see just how powerful QB is and Hedge finishing the job was classic marine stuff. good banter between the two aswell.

Same here, Xardean. Menandore thinking "Oh mage, to think that will be enough. Against us!" What happens? Menandore gets her head ripped off, SL gets blown up by a cusser (ROFLBANSHEED when Hedge was knocked out) and Sukul is killed by the Imass. Wow, big deal.

Tbh I hated that moment. Cussers killing off or in the case of silchas ruin hurting severely, dragon soletaken ascendents? Dunno, just doesn't fit with my idea of fantasy :p

I've always enjoyed QB because he wasn't a massive power house, he did things by being clever.
I was fairly dissapointed that instead of some sly plan or whatever, to beat ascendants like that, he just fought them straight up, which we'd previously been led to believe he shouldn't have had the power to do...

I think Quick enjoys the tricks he plays more than just blasting things with his power. so if possible he uses those talents to beat opponents, think back to him and his sister's recollections. But faced with three dragons, those 'tricks' wouldn't have helped, maybe against one but no way three. IMO.
