Question about re-read re-re-re-read

Hello,
I would like to give the series a second, err, third chance
The first time, I read the French translation of the first book about 5-6 years ago. 3-4 years ago, I reread Garden of the Moon in English and then start reading Deadhouse Gates. I stopped at the middle. Now I wonder what should I do..;
1- Rereread Garden of the Moon
2- Reread only Deadhouse Gates from the beginning
3- Continue where I left at the last time
I think I'll go with option 2 since I remember Garden of the Moon quite ok, but not really Deadhouse Gates, I remember some events but it was kinda blurry from my point of view (keep in mind that I'm not reading in my native language).
Any suggestions is welcome
Thanks!

If you remember GotM, then reread DG and go from there. If however you find yourself blanking on events later then take a look at GotM

I'd start with DG too. Personally I found GOTM a bit hard to get through so skipping it might be a good idea especially as you've already read it once.

Well, 3/4 years is quite a long time ago. I reread the series within a year after finishing it, but still found a lot of things in GotM that I forgot, while I thought I knew most of it still.
Having said that, there are not so many big threads from GotM that continue in DG, so if you remember some names and events you should be ok for DG. But I would recommend
rereading GotM entirely, or maybe read an extensive summary (and use the wiki, but you could run into some possible spoilers), before going on with Memories of Ice (the third book).
It's hard to give advise, because I don't know how much you remember.

This is very subjective thing, so my advice is you should know the best.
I havent reread yet, but even tho GoTM was very hard for me to get through, now its the one Im looking forward to reread the most. I just like that Darujhistan atmosphere there and it all seems most interesting to me now, prob because I feel like I actually missed the entire book remembering just snippets, same as Felisin part in DG which was pretty hard too. But on second note I really loved Chain of dogs and I really paid attention to that a lot, especially battles, but I dont remember it much more. I think I went a little bit off topic.

Actually, I planned to reread GotM after Deadhouse Gates, before reading MoI since they are related to each other.
I remember GotM more because I have already read it twice, moreover one time in French so it sticked(?) to my head more.

well Im actually planning my reread in English, which is not my native language either, too. So...how was it? It seems pretty difficult to me and Im going to read bunch of another English books that seems easier to me before going on that, starting with Stephen King, so I will have some more exp then, but Im still scared of that, aside with looking forward to it ofcourse.
also I think its 'stuck'

It's not that difficult. What is hard, it's because Erikson is sometimes blurry on the meaning of something. Even if were able to read it in your native language, it won't help you because he made it on purpose. So I think that's why several people give up this serie. I know that it will become clearer later on so that's why I want to read it.
Don't worry about reading english books, after some pages, you won't even notice, that's my case anyway

The plan you have, of reading Deadhouse Gates and then going back to GotM before MOI, is probably the best one.

Last question; is wikipedia entry for GotM is spoilers-safe? Just to look if I missed something.

Never use the Wikipedia entry for any book until you're done with the series. Use the summaries from the Tor reread (but not the commentaries) if you want to jog your noggin: http://www.tor.com/s...-of-the-fallen/

Just a fyi; I decided to restart at the beginning after all. It will be best that way. I hope I'll be able to read them all in one year or so.

now I wonder what are your records in reading it?
It took around 10 months for me to read whole MBotF + 1st three Malazan Empire novellas + 1st B&KB stories, so 3 months would be impossible for me

I read the ten SE books in under three months. Not the first read though. Haven't done all the books together. Maybe next year.

Well, I'm not fluent in english so I'm reading not as fast as I could. Though, I read around 200-250 pages a week.
