I lost 4 whole reputation points. This is unacceptable!

Anyway, so now posts or threads should show up properly? Or could we expect to see more crashes in the future? I know that is basically like asking the magic 8 ball, but...

I'm 99% certain it's Silencer's fault. :p

Seriously. PM sent.

edit: nvm timestamp on what I thought was the problem says it can't be the problem. ;)

At time of writing, the database is healthy and functioning as expected. I'm setting up more frequent backups (every 30 minutes) for MzE's database with a sanity check before each. I'll also set up a script to run every 5 minutes which will check the health of the tables. That should mitigate data loss and allow me to monitor it closely.

As for whether it's going to happen again, if it does, I'll have a timestamp and I can look at what happened around that time.

The SQL errors were strange. One happened in the morning and one happened during the afternoon. Didn't really seem to be any connection between them. Just seemed unstable.

If you catch another one, copy the full error message and send it to me, along with where you met the error; i.e. sending a PM to member X or replying to topic Y. Even if the site is completely inaccessible, it's almost always just one part of it that's broken. On the other extreme, what's broken could be one of the most inconsequential parts so you very rarely see an error, if ever.

The first one was just a reply in the "Post what ever the hell you want" thread in the Phonenix inn.

The other one was when I was trying to embed a youtube video in the music thread. Maybe it's localized in the off-topic area?

I believe the answer is in your heart.

All forums, topics and posts share a table per type. So, if the posts in one forum were corrupted, all forums would see errors. There are also some meta tables which contain tertiary information, like topic views, which cause errors globally if corrupted.

I tripled posted in the Jurassic World trailer thread cause I didn't realise the MySQL errors were only stopping the site automatically reloading the thread, not preventing the posts happening. I think it's fixed now though.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Xae, I noticed zero problems, so your ninja admin status is still intact in my view.

Sorry for the hassle if it was something I helped do.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Quite note: The two brief downtimes today have been regarding another problem. Dealing with it currently. The database is unaffected.
