So, I'll be honest, 4 episodes in - i'm liking this show.
Jada Smith is chewing the scenery whenever she appears,
Robin Taylor's Cobblebpot isn't very far behind - he's an EXCELLENT penguin in my eyes.
Anybody else have any opinions?

Yah we've talked about it in the TV Thread a little. I don't have a grudge against Jada in general, but I hate her in this role. She's doing (IMO) a weird Eartha Kitt-minus-cat impression/homage and it's distracting and unnatural.
Other than that I'm liking -- but not loving -- the show so far.

Penguin is owning the show so far. The rest of it is hit-and-miss - it's a lot better than Agents of Shield was at this stage, mind- but Cobblepot's keeping me interested.
The whole long-term gang-plot is working pretty well, to be fair, it's just being hurt by Jada Pinkett-Smith's difficulty in hamming it up. Carmine Falcone is perfectly cast, on the other hand.
The other character who needs to fuck right off is Selina. I don't know who's idea it was to play the character the way she's played, but it's terrible.

Yeah, I agree about Jada...she's terrible. Watching her scene's is cringe-inducing.
And I agree with PG about Selina, the girl playing her spent the whole first two eps mugging for the camera, and Selina is supposed to be pyschologically broken, not precocious scamp.
Otherwise it's a great show!
Doctor Who Connection: The actor playing Alfred is Sean Pertwee, son of Third Doctor Jon Pertwee.

To be fair, the psychological damage could be yet to happen/be revealed. I mean, if she keeps pickpocketing people by jumping onto cars right in front of them, sneaking up on tiptoes (literally) while pretending to be a cat, and sticking her hand in their pocket really slowly, she's definitely going to jail and stuff.

That said, Fish's comeback to the Russian about his mom not being a good cook was the best line of the night.

interesting that we're all focussing on the secondary characters.
What about Bullock/Gordon?
I think Donal Logue is doing a grand job.
Ben Mckenzie..... I just can't see him as a veteran type. don't know why. Just doesn't click for me, which is a real shame as he's the lead.

I agree. Donal is awesome, "Did any one die because it's lunch."
I know I'm going to sin here, but I want to see a little Frank Castle in Jim Gordon.

also, liking the subplot of Wayne Enterprises being fundamentally corrupt.
So Bruce/Batman's first case is to uncover the corruption at the heart of his own company.

Yup, he's already doing more detective work than he did in all the movies combined.

Latest episode might be my favorite so far.
Perfect casting of Carol Kane as Oswald Cobblepot's mother. And no Jada "Stinkett" Smith is the episode! Overall the show has been hit or miss (more miss, imo).

Jada tries my patience to the nth degree with this show. Every time she shows up I just want to wing the remote at the TV. She's AWFUL. She's a worse actor than the woman who plays Snow White on ONCE UPON A TIME...and that's saying something.
She actually brings the show down.
I find myself fighting to want to watch it because I picture Jada's hamfisted delivery in my head when the prospect of a new ep dawns each week.

Yep, the show is still a meh on my radar. If it stays exactly as it is i doubt i'll stick with it too much longer.
And ditto on Smith. She was probably my least favorite actress before this, so expected very little from her. But she's godawful in this. Hopefully (i typed Marcone on accident) Falcone knocks her off soon.

I imagine it will be Penguin who takes her out, since she's a Fish. It's pretty deep symbolism.

Different strokes for different folks I guess Morgy.
I don't watch a huge amount of telly tbh.
Most of what I do watch is niche - This, Arrow, Flash, Agents of Shield, Dr Who.
other than that, barely turn on the telly, except for some sport. So I don't know, maybe my standards are vastly lower?
