So I'm galloping through House of Chains on my reread and at one point the Tiste Liosan refer to Icarium as the Slayer of ten thousand, and I'm wondering if I am remembering correctly in who that ten thousand were, was it the Hust Legion?

MODGOD NOTICE OF POST MOVE - AS OF HOC, THE HUST LEGION HAS NEVER BEEN MENTIONED, SO MOVING THIS TO THE GENERAL FORUM. IF THERE'S SOMEWHERE YOU FEEL MORE APPROPRIATE, PM A MODGOD.

IN GENERAL, USE THE GENERAL FORUM WHEN YOU WANT TO REFER TO LATER BOOKS IN A QUESTION RE AN EARLIER BOOK. GENERALLY.

It's not entirely clear who the Ten Thousand were... could be Tiste Andii, even the Hust Legion, if Iccy sided with the Liosan during some conflict, but i don't think we've seen any ref to that.
As far as we know (which is little), the Hust were wiped out in FoD, and at some point in the future will be reassembled and march on Starvald Demelain.

Best guess, Iccy took out a mass of FA during the Just Wars.

Icarium took out so many people, so many cities, possibly entire civilisations, its very difficult to be specific

But it would have to be someone the lioson would know the story from. Seems like the hust would be a good guess.

Oops sorry Modgods, its bugging me but I have the connection of the Hust legions and The number ten thousand in my head! Was ot the number of swords mentioned in DOD/CG? Been a while since I read Forge of Darkness so not sure of their numbers there. Gothos was about so maybe we will see Icarium in Fall of Light or the third in the trilogy?

Icarium has a hell of a reputation, and both he and the Liosan have been around for eons. Doesn't even have to be something the Liosan were personally involved with - could just be they heard a cool story of him slaying ten thousand badgers one time and the name stuck.

(Not likely, mind you, but possible :) )

D'ivers badgers are not to be underestimated.

But Iccy has wiped out entire civilizations, so anything is possible.

It's from HoC when L'oric is revealing the fate of the Host and BBs to Sha'ik and co. He magically contacts an informant in the Host to learn the names of the BBs who survived.

Ah yes... no i don't think we ever found out who that is.

It's also unclear whether the connection is via his Liosan or 7C/Whirlwind network.

Isn't it said somewhere that Icarium destroys an entire city, been a while since I've read them, probably get 10,000 souls there plus I guess it could also be over a time period too he's that old school!

Agree all the way, the re read is better than the first read through. Its amazing how much stuff you know now and can connect to the events and the whos and the whys and the whens.

Just looked up that scene where L'oric contacts his spy (end of chapter 7, HoC).

I didn't think that it was widely known that Paran was a survivor. If so, the spy must have been close to command.

You must systematically go through every reference to Dujek's Host and suss out which one is the palest. That's your spy.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.
