This show is absurd. Everything about the show screams off to me. The biochemistry they sprout is nonsense, I'm pretty sure the way they depict the military is ludicrous (The master chief asks permission to salute the captain on the bridge?, its also good to know that regular navy captains and their second officer are also the go to away team on earth and not just in star fleet) and I think from my understanding of physics that radar does absolutely not work as they depict

Somehow I find each episode a nice way to relax for forty minutes. Perhaps because I can turn off my brain for forty minutes and then mock it in my thoughts over the rest of the week. Anyone else watching this?

Also if anyone knows in the first episode the ship is struck by three rockets and takes no damage? Is this at all accurate? My understanding is that a destroyer would more likely kill any helicopter from miles out and that modern day battle ships are actually quite vulnerable these days?

I feel the same way. I love that the Captain and Exo do everything better than all the specialists. Waiting for the Captain to jump into the lab and help develop the cure.

Just got done with S2. It had cheese at times and stupid mountains in NOLA ugh but i must say the last 6 episodes or so had a very tense/fun vibe. I was very happy with S2 and I'm glad S3 is a go.

Agreed.

Did you not cringe seeing those mountains? Maybe it's different cause I'm in Louisiana and know the coast is flat but I was literally screaming at my tv cursing the writers/staff. It was almost painful to see and that was really the only negative I had about S2. It was a big negative to me but as I said it's probably cause I live here.. I'm sure they have shown wrong landscape before for other locations

I was down to N.O. once about 15 years ago. I didn't even pickup on the mountains.

I read the book this was based on the other day. Just awful, terribly written but some good ideas buried in there.

Anyone else read the book? How does it compare to the show?

OK, so now it's not the Captain going on away missions, it's the Chief of Naval Operations...

So, besides Chandler Kirking it on away missions, I'm really enjoying season 3. Rhona Mitra's Dr. Scott has been replaced by Bridget Regan's Sasha Cooper who is an Intel Officer/spy. S3E9 really kicked the background plot into high gear (finally!).

I've watched the first 3 eps of the season which I thought were okay but haven't got around to watching any more yet.
