Anyone else watching Orphan Black? Season 2 just finished, and, after having seen many articles about it on Tor.com, I decided to go ahead and download the 2 seasons. I'm a little over halfway through Season 2, and I find the show rivetting.
The basic premise of the show is that the main character, Sarah Manning, finds out that she is one of many clones that were created 20-something years ago. The actress that plays the lead role (Tatyana Maslany) also plays the role of each of the clones. So you've got the punk rock chick, the lesbian sciencey chick, the soccer mom, the crazy religious fanatic, the cop, the russian prostitute, the born again Christian, the powerful executive, and others, all played by the same actress, and each character is so distinct, so different, that although they're technically the same person, they're all unique characters.
Anyway, I'm frikkin' loving this!

Maslany's ability to play so many distinct characters just amazes me. Half the time I forget they're all played by the same person because they all have their own mannerisms and ways of moving and speaking. There was a particular scene at the end of season 2 that despite being an awkward, clunky scene, really demonstrated it perfectly.

You talking about the dance scene in Felix's living room?

Yeah. It felt contrived to me. It didn't really flow and felt more like a fan-service. But that's just my opinion.

I thought it was fun to see the four different Tatiana Maslany's dancing, and how very different yet totally in character each of their dances were. Helena's "I'm CRAZAY!" dance, Cosima's "I'm a stoner/hipster" dance, Sarah's "I'm a low-key punk rock chick" dance and Alison's low-key "I'm a soccer mom" dance. They were all perfect!

Just marathoned S1.... this show utterly exceeded my expectations.
Yes, Tatiana is a brilliant actress, that goes without saying, but the writing is far far better than most of the sf on tv, the plots are well planned and executed, there is barely any filler, and considering what they're working oposite, the supporting cast is pretty damn good too.
Great fun, can't wait for S2 and will likely live watch S3.

Orphan Black is currently in the running for being my favourite Sci-fi show ever, if they keep up the current standard it almost certainly will be. Tatiana's acting is brilliant, but the scripts and plotting of the whole show is really well done. Looking forward to season 3 in April after the teasers.

It's definitely strange, but it's so well-balanced that even its strangeness is accessible (or at least intriguing). IH is right. Maslany is clearly the crown jewel, but it's also got The Shield-level forward momentum and willingness to take big risks, and so far it's sticking almost every landing.

Heh. I guess it's time to check this out. I remember not making it through the first episode but don't remember why I stopped.

So I'm about halfway through ep 3. Is it just my imagination or did the lead here get her acting coaching from Peta Wilson?
