As the title and description say, there is a Kickstarter for 3D printed, customisable tabletop minis.
And it looks very, very promising.

So essentially they are offering a service where you log onto their free web based character editor, choose race, sex, body type, face for the 3D model. Then mix and match various pieces of armour and weapons and pick a pose. You can then save 2D images (portraits, full pictures, top down views for virtual tables) and print those off if you wish. You can save the character and come edit them later. And obviously (given the title) you can, if you want, order a 3D printed mini of what you just made.

For those familiar with 3D printing, these are pretty high in quality and detail. You get to pick the material used (they are considering offering two options at the moment). They are currently looking at offering 3 sizes: 28-30mm (standard D&D mini size), 3 inch, and 6 inch. The 3D modelling side is already much higher fidelity than the models, so as new 3D printing materials/techniques become available they can print in them without having to edit all the modelling. Current projected prices for 28-30mm are $15-$25 depending on what you make and which material.

A close up of one of the minis so you can see the detail (and that they don't have really ugly faces! Stupid faces is a constant problem I have with finding minis).

The two materials they're thinking of using. All minis in other pictures are made out of the Ultra Detail Plastic.

Anyway, go read through the Kickstarter if you want all the details. I figure there will be a few people here pretty keen :p
I've been waiting for something like this to come along, and this looks like the perfect bunch of experienced and talented people to pull it off. Plus it was half funded after 2 days :p

PS - Couple of things they answered in the comments section that aren't on the main page yet:
The bases will be just as customisable as the rest of the model, including different terrain and base shapes.
It's simply pay to print. Using the web app is free, you only need to pay for each model you make.
They have ideas for more stretch goals and will be adding "add-ons" to the Kickstarter (so you can fund them by just getting more minis and shit if you don't want the other things in the higher tiers).
