Disclaimer: Just so there is no confusion, this is introductory story leading up to Timelords 3. I don't expect to actually run Timelords 3 until much later, but thought it would be fun to give you all a bit of flavour leading up to it! I will be adding to the story as the months go by, so you'll get more and more information as we get closer to the game actually being run!

Without further ado...

After the 'rebellion,' things in the Temporal Kingdoms become quiet. King Sunday makes time shifting illegal for anyone but himself, effectively closing the time stream. As a result, it becomes a very rare. Lord Verano stays at court with Lady Ete, as does Lord Milenio, given he owes his seat to King Sunday, and to continue his clandestine relationship with the King's brother, Prince Domingo.

The Temporal Kingdom's worst kept secret is that Prince Domingo is actually King Sunday's bastard older brother. His mother was not Lady Dimanch, King Sunday's mother, but Lady Chilias, the young widow of a Lord of a small House in the kingdom of Millennium. Lord Sonntag, King Sunday's father, had always been a noble man. He adopted Domingo, allowed his mother to stay at court and be a part of their son's life, and had even made Domingo the heir to his house... until Sunday was born.

Lady Chilias spent half the year in Sunday's court, and half the year in Millennium. She had always been a part of Domingo's life. She had even been the one to introduce Milenio to Domingo, and helped them meet clandestinely whenever she could. When Sunday took the throne and murdered her Lord, Millennium, she was struck with grief, but did nothing outward about it.

One day Lord Verano dies suddenly, leaving the young Lady Ete alone at court. King Sunday quickly takes her under his wing. In time, they begin meeting clandestinely as well, and the King expects Chilias to help him as she has been helping Domingo and Milenio. This infuriates her, but she does as asked, keeping quiet, except to tell her son, with whom she is still very close. Given his history, he is less than impressed.

It is six months later.

Things seem well in the Temporal Kingdoms.

However, Prince Domingo has been spending more and more time with his mother. Losing his inheritance to Sunday had hurt, but to watch the King with his strumpet whore had infuriated him. He knew that Sunday was not as noble as his father had been. Should a bastard be born of that coupling, he or she would have nowhere near the life that Domingo himself had had. But without access to the time stream, he had no power with which to stop King Sunday. Instead, his mother, still feeling the sting of her Lord's death all these years later, began to teach him the ways of her people. The ways of souls.

Lady Chilias taught him to bind souls, to remove them from the bodies of his victims, and eventually even to swap their souls. At first, the power horrified him, but the more he learned, the more he wanted to learn. He started experimenting without his mother's supervision.

He eventually found out that when citizens of the Temporal Kingdoms fell out of the time stream, their bodies were lost, yes, but their souls lingered in the void beyond time. One day, Lord Milenio walked in on him while he was swapping the souls of one of the King's bodyguards with the soul of a mercenary loyal to him.

It was too late; the swap was already underway when Milenio walked in. So Domingo finished the swap, and then grabbed the hand of a horrified Milenio. He then searched the void, and snatched a soul from it, willing it back into the time stream. He had intended to swap Milenio's soul into the void, but, for some reason, he was unable to do so. He had, however, pulled the soul back into the time stream, and, he now saw, had linked it to Milenio's soul.

Suddenly, a form began to come into existence next to him. It looked identical to Milenio. Milenio snatched his hand from Domingo's and grasped his dagger, his face twisted with terror as his doppelganger appeared before his very eyes. Chilias had walked in while this was happening.

“Oh Domingo, you should never have dabbled in this. This is evil!”

She had startled the already frightened Milenio. His arm flew around, dagger in his hand, and he stabbed her through the temple. She crumpled to the floor, lifeless.

“Milenio!” whispered Domingo, “what have you done?”

“I...” he said, “Oh no, I am so sorry!” He held his hand out to Domingo, eyes wide, pleading. The doppelganger had fully materialized. Domingo pulled a dagger from his belt and stuck it through Milenio's neck, tears running down his face. Milenio's body fell to the ground, and Domingo watched as his soul seemed to writhe in pain, and then get pulled into the void.

“Ha, I am the Lord Milenio,” said the doppelganger. He looked exactly the same as the man Domingo had just stabbed. Domingo fell to his knees, tears streaming down his face. This was King Sunday's fault! None of this would have happened if he had not taken the throne, snatched it from the other Timelords. In something so simple as his birth, he had taken everything away from Domingo. The prince got up, and stormed to the King's dining room, the Milenio doppelganger in tow.

“Ah, Domingo, Milenio, how are you this evening?” said the King, standing as they entered. Around his table were Queen Wednesday, Lady Ete, whom the queen glanced at with distaste, and Lord Epoch, who was said to be visiting. The King's Guard, Mister Monday, was, as always, standing just behind him, to his right. Sir Thursday sat in a dark corner, picking his nails with a dagger. Tertian, the Jester, was in front of the table, doing handstands and back flips.

“My King!” cried the doppelganger, “it is always a pleasure to see you!”

Domingo let him walk into the room, and waited until he had said hello to everyone.

“Since you were born,” he finally said. King Sunday's eyes snapped to Domingo's. “Since you were born, you have taken everything important from me. I am done with this.”

He gestured with his hand and everyone around the table fell into their plates, sound asleep. He walked around the table, and, one by one, he pulled a wayward soul from the void, linking it to the soul of one of those laying around the room. He came to Lord Epoch last. As Domingo placed his hand on the Lord's, linking the souls, Epoch flung himself from his chair, kicking it into Domingo's legs.

“You think your pithy sleep magic works on me?” cried Epoch. The prince fell to the ground, and Epoch scanned the room around him. A few of the doppelgangers had materialized enough for Epoch to be able to see that they looked identical to those laying face first in their dishes. He looked to his side, and watched as his own doppelganger began to appear.

“What have you done?” he cried, “this is evil! You will destroy the time stream! These souls have fallen out of the time stream, they cannot be brought back in!”

“Phhaaaaa!” sneered Domingo. “Why should I believe you?”

“Domingo, you have already gone too far! Only a very talented Timelord can fix this. Only one who truly understands the time stream.”

“King Sunday?” asked Domingo, “he is the only Timelord left!”

“I’m afraid not. Only Millennium had the talent to do this thing. You have doomed us all!” Epoch looked down on him with contempt. His doppelganger had materialized by this time, and walked up behind him and, pulling a dagger from his belt, slit his throat.

The Epoch doppelganger let Lord Epoch fall to the floor. He looked around him, at the other doppelgangers, then the members of King Sunday’s court who were still sleeping in their food.

“What have you done?” cried the Epoch doppelganger. The others echoed his cry. “This thing is evil.” The doppelgangers all turned to Domingo, creeping towards him, pulling swords or daggers from their belts.

“No, you are mine to control!” said Domingo, but try as he might, he could not assert any sort of control over them. “Very well, then I will let the King and his friends deal with this.”

Domingo waved his hands at the oncoming doppelgangers and they all fell to the ground, in as deep a sleep as the King’s court.

Less than an hour later, 14 people woke in the King's dining room. There was blood on the floor, but none of those in the room seemed to be hurt or bleeding. When they started realizing the pairs, chaos ensued. The Kings shouted. Guards walked into the room. The King ordered that no one was to leave this room until this was resolved. Only one of each member of this court was to leave this room.

========

Domingo sat in the rafters of the room, Lord Epoch’s body tucked away next to him. He now knew that he could pull souls from the void to replace his biggest rivals. Though this was not an ideal situation, he had left the doppelgangers below to their own devices. Now that they were mingling amongst each other, Domingo could not even tell which the doppelganger was and which the true person was.

While they occupied themselves with the problem Domingo had left them, the prince began to think about the situations he had created. Lord Epoch had said that only one Timelord could prevent the time stream from shattering. Lord Millenium. His mother’s liege lord. Somehow, it seemed so perfect.

He began searching the void beyond time for Millenium’s soul. Yes, this could potentially hurt the time stream more, but if only Millenium could save the Temporal Kingdoms, then this is the thing Domingo would do.

So as those below continued to discuss their situation, he began to push his training a bit farther. If he could pull a soul back into the time stream, could he choose a specific soul? Could he find Lord Millenium's soul, and bring a Timelord back into the fold. Someone who knew the secrets that time held? Could he do this thing, without being noticed by those below?

Game Setup:

Sunday's Court vs. Doppelgangers vs. Prince Domingo

Sunday's court start the game with more power and information, so they are slightly smaller than the Doppelgangers crew. Prince Domingo is an independent.

VCs for King Sunday's Court are to eliminate all the Doppelgangers.
VCs for the Doppelgangers is to eliminate all of King Sunday's Court.

Prince Domingo can win in two ways - he can either survive until one of the factions meets their VCs, thus winning alongside the faction, or he can complete the summoning of Lord Millenium before a faction meets their VCs, at which point everybody but himself dies.

CF will be in effect for this game, however you will not be told if a player is a member of King Sunday's court, or a Doppelganger.

Days are 36 hours. Nights are instant (so be sure to get your provisionals in if you want to perform your NAs).

Before everything gets started, something goes awry with Prince Domingo's spell and the Epoch and Milenio doppelgangers melt away into nothingness. This has no bearing on the current game, they're just the two characters that had to die off in order to make this a 13 player game instead of a 15 player game.

It is now Day 1. 36 hours remaining.

Vote Tiam

This vote is totally random including a bunch of gibberish as it makes you look like you could be signalling you aren't Wha'ts his name that started this whole mess to begin with. Sounds like he should be a priority for the group and then lets move on to figuring out wholes an original and who's a copy.

Rikkter has just pointed a big fat hairy finger towards Tiam. From no fault of Tiam's own they are now center of attention.

I could vote Rikkter for being sly and doing this.

In fact I will.
