I saw the trailer for an upcoming movie named Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. Apparently it's based off of a book I've never heard of. I think the trailer looks interesting, but I can't tell if it will be worth watching or if it'll be some gay Twilight type movie.

On a side note, the mom is also Cercei Lannister from Game of Thrones.

It looks like a cheesy twilight movie tbh. Its got Jared Harris whos pretty good and Lena Heady as you say, whos doing alot of film work now and is a good actress. Also I think the main 'goodie demon hunter' blonde guy was a young Gellert Grindelward from Harry potter that was engaged to the actress who played Ginny Weasley.

Looks like its aimed at the twilight kind of audience though if you ask me. Like a watered down teen Nightwatch

It's funny you should make those specific mentions. Cassandra Clare (who wrote the series) began her writerly career by penning online Harry Potter and LOTR fan fiction before penning the Mortal Instruments Series.

I've heard from fans of the books (adult fans, not young adult fans) that they are serviceable and quite entertaining, and where the first book is kind of by-the-numbers, they DO get successively better with each book.

But yeah, the target audience for these films will be built in from fans of the book series who have lapped her work up.

I'll likely see it. Cautiously optimistic. And I like this sort of thing.
