Anyone else getting into this?

I was a big fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Even though it was a childrens cartoon, I still found it thoroughly enjoyable.

And the Legend of Korra seems to be just as good. It's off to a strong start introducing the new steam punky theme, seeming to come off abit darker then Last Airbender.

Korra seems like an interesting lead so far with some good side kicks in Mako and Bolin.

Im pumped for the rest of the season!

Same, I've seen all of the new episodes. I especially like the steampunk theme.

In the new one, the car factory owner, did he remind you of anyone in RL? I could swear I've seen that face before.

I'm DVRing it but haven't started it yet. Pretty fascinating information, I know.

Agreed. I watched the first few episodes last night and have to say that it looks like they are trying to accommodate an older audience.

Just watched episode 4, it was pretty great.

I'm really digging the villain, he is a seriously menacing aunt. The council member that heads the task force is a doucher; I've got a feeling he's into some heavy shit.

I love being able to watch these two shows with my son. He is 5 so he is confused that Aang hasn't been in it really yet but he seems to be enjoying Korra so far.

That's one of the things I love about these shows, they made it so accessible fro all ages that I can watch it with anybody. Even the more mature new episodes aren't so bad to be only for an older demographic, although I also thought the fourth episode was great, showing that even the powerful avatar has fear of something that could destroy everything she loves.
Also, Mako's grilfriend is schmexy.

I'm all caught up, show is awesome, love how they drew a lot of stuff to their logical conclusions from the first series, like metal and lightning bending, as well as (what I presume is) Sokka's legacy of invention/new tech.

I'm pretty interested in the metal bending. Is it just mechanical shitinside their suits?

And I didn't see anything about Lightning. I thought it was established that fire benders bend lightning anyway?

There was a quick scene in the episode where they were looking for money, it shows Mako working in a power plant shootinglightning at a turbine thingy.

And he's a fire bender yes? So it's the same from the previous series where the fire benders master lightning. So not just lighting bending.

I don't know what point im trying to make really. I'm pretty sure I'm just agreeing.

I think lightning bending was really rare in the first series in that only really powerful benders could do it, it could be that more people were trained to do it after the war.

IIRC, really powerful earth benders were able to bend metal as well in the first series. So it could be just like the lightning benders that it has become more common.

Indeed. It is being made clear that Aang (I would presume) did his best to democratize bending abilities.

Yah, the choreography of the action scenes has not lost any of its punch from the old series.
