or kellanved's ... extension/possessed child/youfilltheblank ?
with all the wierdness involving him, specifically his knowledge of events that are happening or will happen, implying a relation to a certain unknown being.
so... there seems to be a possibility that he is his son :
1) ST and cotillion foresee the fall of the malazan empire under laseen (in GOTM).
2) they prepared grub as a future emperor.
also, in the last few pages the meeting between tays and ST :
tays tells ST "fear for your own child".

except for DG (which is later revoked) there's no place in the first 8 books that his heritage is mentioned.
also, if you read that passage in context i don't think u can say the "child" is the empire.
especialy since ST has bigger issues now.

There is a quote from a future historian who says that Grub is the fist sword of the later period Empire.
As for reading the passage. How can you not say that the empire is not ST child. Like any parent he still watches over it and wants it to do well. But knows that he can no longer protect it or guide it. That it has to make its own mistakes and learn its way in the world with out him.

Thats really gonna bugg me now. If someone is kind enough to share a page reference or just point me in the right direction of the quote that would be a great help and I would forever be in your debt.

also, i don't think Ive ever seen anyone on here abbreviate The Chain of Dogs, to just like 'The Chain', or the 'CoD'. I believe this is because of the overwhelmingly bad ass name, which is so cool people cant help writing it in full. God I love that name.

It's towards the end of the book when Grub and Sinn have been on a field trip through the warrens. Sinn makes an educated guess at where Grub came from and what he is.

From DG Cotillion speaks with Apt concerning how he and his "daughter" have had a falling out, and it was his "daughter" that is the one who slighted him. Is he referring to Surly?
